Title: Oil Underneath the Engne
Post by: Mikey22 on July 18, 2011, 07:33:54 PM
Hey everyone,

I need some help, I started to work on my Rex today and when i got it up on the ramp i noticed what looked like oil on the under part of the engine. Now ive done many oil dips and there is plenty of oil in the car itself.

Is this something i should be worried about?

I just cant understand where it could be coming from.

cheers

Mike

there are normally 3 places that tend to leak on an FD

1) Sump if not cleaned degreased and sealed correctly after an engine build

2) Rear main oil seal behind the fly wheel

3) sometimes the oil return lines from the turbo pack can leak.

Regards

Dave

not to forget if you\'ve been a bit exuberant when filling her up, chances are you\'ve pished loads of it down the sides of the filler cap, does it look like \'new\' oil or \'used\' oil?

black oil is a sign of a previous owner not being as careful as he should IMO. Oil shouldn\'t be in long enough to turn black!! :O
