Hi all,
I thought I would say hi and introduce myself properly. Im Lee, im 25 in a couple of weeks and have just bought a house (yaaay)
I have decided to sell my current Honda Civic Type-R for something a bit more powerful and fun! Im certainly looking forward to getting behind the wheel of an RX7 and cant get over the look of them. I did post up a few pictures of stuff and thought id post them on here to..

I have a couple of questions about the RX7 as Im a bit of a noob in the subject at present. I have learnt a lot about their reliability, running costs, servicing, spec etc and a bit about how they work/common faults but I havnt been able to find out more info on the most simple bit.. the difference between FD and FC.. I think its model differences like one will have leather/air con and the other may not or something like that but this is a wild guess!
Thanks for reading and sorry to waffle!
Lee :Thumbs-up
Hi Lee and welcome to MRC,
I would say your best way forward as to differences between RX-7 FD\'s and FC\'s would be to try and get yourself along to Rotorstock 8 at Santa Pod on the 20th of August.
This way you will be able to see many FD\'s and FC at our biggest meeting of the year and decide by looking and talking to owners :Thumbs-up
Hope this helps
Greetings and welcome!!
Nice Civic you have there! Want to swap it for my EPB EJ6? :p lol
But most of all welcome to MRC! :)
Differences between FC and FD are vast!
FC\'s come in N/A and Turbo, FD\'s are as standard sequential twin-turbo, I don\'t believe they did an N/A or single turbo version of the FD as standard but I;ve been known to be wrong before :)
As for mod cons again it varies, some FC\'s have air con and some don\'t, mine doesn\'t but does have other luxuries like cruise control etc (which for an \'89 N/A lower end of the market is quite funky), I think most if not all FD\'s have air con? But again I\'m not completely sure.
Body parts, kits and replacement parts are a lot more readily available for the FD as it\'s a newer car, I believe most parts can still be purchased directly from a Mazda dealer whereas the FC parts can sometimes be tricky to source.
I don\'t believe the FC and the FD differ in reliability, reliability of a rotary is always down to how well it\'s been looked after, so a well looked after FC is just as reliable as a well looked after FD.
One of the bonuses about the FC (and very early UK FD and pre 96 import FD\'s) are that you can legally run a de-cat system and be put in for the older, much higher rate emissions testing.
Just a few bits in comparison of the two :)
Thanks Clive! I\'ll check my shifts at work and let you know! Is there much difference is shape and spec then? I\'m at Santa pod for Ultimate Street Car on the 5th to 7th of August.. Will there be a MRC stand there? Also going to awesome fest on 29th July but that\'s a bloody long way!
Thank to for the warm welcome!
Lee
That\'s really useful Lacey thanks! I think its the FD I\'ve been looking at then. They were both non sequential twin turbos. Fell in love! Lol. Finding a decent one is nearly impossible for the way I like them and have my eye on a couple. Hehe you got a couple of pics of your car collection?
They\'re hard to mistake when comparing the two :D
FC

And the FD

Personally I love both, but for me to insure an FD was double the cost of insuring an FC - made the choice quite simple really! lol
As for my collection;

I could have found that on google you know! :p
I was just looking for an easy picture of what the FC looks like as stock, although you were missing some centre caps there Liam :p :rollin along with your marbles
Some beautiful cars! It\'s the FD for me without a shadow of doubt.. I\'m looking forward to getting my hands on one but need the civic gone first. I\'ve considered many front engined rear wheel drive japanese cars, another skyline, supra etc among many others like an evo or even an integra but after seeing my first RX in the flesh and being in one I couldn\'t not have that power, look and sound in my life lol! Are you going to Awesomefest or Ultimate Street Car at all?
Can\'t say I am! Tight year, only looking to attend Rotorstock on the 20th of next month, if I even make it to that.... >_>
It sounds like I really need to make that show lol. I\'m pretty sure I\'m working but i should be able to move work around. I\'m not going to know anyone! :O
Nobody knows anybody to begin with and at their first show, you get to know people pretty quick! We don\'t bite unless you ask! :p
Ooo.. Kinky. :)
In that case I\'ll come to the show, now I\'ll have to sort me shifts out! Anyway - what are you doing up at this hour your crazy foo\' ?
Nothing is the answer! I\'d gone to bed by the time you posted the reply :p lol
I\'ve got the nt03\'s on my dc2 mate.. There a pain to clean but look the part after lol
