Title: Grinding noise when turning hard
Post by: RotRex on July 12, 2011, 07:27:34 PM
I have recently noticed a loud and rather disconcerting grinding sound from my left front wheel only when cornering hard right. The vehicle will also veer slightly to the left if I momentarily let go of the steering wheel. I tried checking the wheel for play and could not detect any (however, my mechanical skills would make a double amputee monkey feel better about its state). Is my wheel bearing gone or are there other possible causes? How much is it likely to set me back at the local garage to get this sorted? Please help?!

Constantly hear a wine if it\'s the wheel bearing. Plus like you say would of felt some play might sound silly but it\'s not hitting the plastic inside the arch is it? Look for wear marks on it.

Thanks guys. It definately only comes on when cornering hard. I cannot see any grinding on the wheel arch. The sound can be described as almost metalic. I will have a look at the c.v. boots tomorrow.  Thanks again.

also look at the anti roll bar links mate,,, had a mr2 and front left bolt was bent and caused your symptoms although what splinter said is a good first thing to check
