Title: Replacement part availability ?
Post by: Prof on July 11, 2011, 09:04:45 PM
I put this in the general section, as that way all Rotary owners can see it.

I found recently that some items for the FC are no longer available from Mazda - and some pattern / oem equivalent parts also.

I\'m wondering how long Mazda make spares for their cars, and whether this issue affects the older gen cars more - Series 1,2 and 3 Rx7, and also the earlier RX models ?

Some recent examples I\'ve come across :

DTSS bushes for FC
Throttle cable for EGI (TII still available)
Outer Tie Rod ends FC
Brake dust shields FC

Please feel free to add items not available anymore to this thread, and also any alternate sources you may know of :)

If you need something that can not be found in UK i know someone who can find from japan but might take a while to source depending on part ;)

I think Prof just means the availability to source a part directly from a UK Mazda supplier which you used to be able to do quite readily, but now can\'t as they no long stock or import certain things.

IIRC there is a legal requirement for spares to be available for 10 years from date of manufacture.

BUT I know there can be huge waiting times obviously Jap stuff has been recently affected by the recent disaster.

But I know that certain Land Rover parts for current models like Auto Gearboxes are unavailable and have been for 6 months similarly with certain Fiesta Auto boxes the Co. that made them was taken over and closed down if yours breaks - then you either find a used box or scrap the car.
