Title: Is this front strut brace a bit overkill?
Post by: Dan Norton on June 18, 2004, 06:24:02 PM
I love this, but is it really neccessary?

Maybe on 500+bhp cars yea?

Plus i dunno who makes it

horsepower isn\'t really a factor with a strut brace, its just to stiffen the chassis rails across the gaping hole which is the engine bay.  I\'d say that strutbrace is a bit over the top and if you looked at which tubes are the doing the work you could make somthing that worked 90% as well with half the tubes.

Looks more like part of a major rollcage to me

There\'s an equivalent piece that fits underneath too - looks similar.  They\'re alleged to work well but you\'d have to be a pretty serious track day user to really need something that robust.

Tieing into the bulkhead dows improve stiffness over a simple strut-strut bar though.

It looks cool too which must be worth an extra 25 horses!

that auto exe bar is good.

the front of the fd is bendy

some of these are good from the door to the fender too.
