Title: 1st time rotary owner, kind of....
Post by: chunkle on July 05, 2011, 01:37:03 AM
Hey folks,

A few will know me on here (Carl Hayward, Mark Nash, Dave Royal, Lacey and others) so a big Hi to you folks and all the other MRC guys/girls. I\'m usually just \'Chunk\' but someone beat me to that username :(

Well, i say first time owner, mainly as i don\'t really class owning a \'88 FC EGi for 2 days proper ownership, great car, just not quite my bag.

I\'ve dabbled with a few rotarys, probably the most famous one being Pete Barbers Hayward rotary built drift car. I used the car in a British drift championship round back in 2008, it made me decide there and then that one day, i\'d get a bridgeported 13B.

Considering i\'m very much into my Nissan Skylines (I have a daily R32 non turbo and a R32 RB26 single turbo\'ed drift car) it was quite a shock to realise once i was offered the car i\'ve just aquired in swap for one of my other R32\'s that i used for drift demo\'s and occasional road use.

Anyway, the reason i\'ve joined (not fully, yet) the MRC is due to now owning a FC turbo 2, which has a Hayward rotary bridgeported 13B with a Greddy T88 bolted to it, also a Hayward V-mount intercooler set up, Apexi PFC etc etc. When i got it, the paintwork wasn\'t the best, now been fully resprayed by a bodyshop sponsor (Hart motors in Leicester) it looks awesome.

It will be making it\'s way to Hayward ASAP to get mapped then having a few little tweaks at my garage to the suspension/steering etc.

Currently, i have no pics, apart from a couple when i collected it, some of you guys may know the car.....

It now has original turbo 2 wheels back on it, a new fresh coat of white and no decals. I intend to put the \'turbo II\' decals back on the front wings and i have also got a spiller for the front bumper, there will be no fibreglass kits fitted to this..... street sleeper (apart from the noise) FTW!!

I\'ll keep you all up to date with the FC\'s progress. It\'s first outing will be at Awesomefest at Mallory park on 29/30/31 July.

Cheers

Rich

Booked in to see Carl in a couple of weeks, so i\'ll hopefully get everything all sorted map wise, then maybe do a test day at Mallory on the 21st before Awesomefest.

Lacey, hard work and being somewhere at the right time :), this one i swapped a Skyline for. So my wallet didnt get hurt..... yet!! Haha

Hey Prof, for sure, I\'ve always had a soft spot for FC/FD\'s, just never been the right time to own one, be good to catch up fella, say hi to Eileen from me.

Cheers folks,

Will get a progress thread up as soon as i find my camera, it has a fair amount of pics on it!!!!

Monte/Lacey. Need a black carpet, kick plates/foot plates and boot trim. I\'m sure i need more, but i\'m just spending more time getting it set up for awesomefest first.

Desperatly need a 2 way diff aswell. Will be making a few equiries as soon as i have a bit of time.

I love it though :)

Welded diff here:

Although I know you can weld your own! I warn you now, you need to remove the diff to weld it, and it\'s a biatch of a job.

It\'s currently up for sale I believe, or at least he said on FB it was going to be, as is his auto N/A skyline, he\'s looking to get a diesel wagon for economy

Hey,

Just a quick update, took it to see Carl and he did an oil change, re-mapped it and pointed out a couple of bits. It is now running AWESOME, is so responsive it puts my RB26 skyline to shame!!!!

In responce to PCO and Lacey....

I don\'t want to sell it, but i\'m just thinking whats the best plans for me at the current time. As some of you know i have a pretty buggered left leg, i managed a whole 20 laps at mallory, 10 hard, 6 fast, 4 warm up/cool down and my leg was shot for 2 days!!

I have a large operation (again!!!!) in a month or so, so the FC will just be sitting at my unit looking sorry for itself, like Lacey says, my daily NA R32 is for sale also.

It honestly kills me everytime i start the car up, take it for a small drive to keep everything fresh, that i \'should\' sell it.

I \'think\' i\'ll put up a gauging interest sale thread (if thats allowed?) as i won\'t be too upset if i dont sell it LOL, but it would be a massive shame to have such an awesome car just sitting at my workshop :(
