Title: Bridgeported engine - MOT idle?
Post by: m1tch on July 03, 2011, 09:41:17 AM
Hi all,

I am just thinking about the bridge ported engine I have in the garage ready to fit next year, is there anything on the MOT that denotes what the idle should be? Would the car have to have a steady idle at say a constant 800rpm, I know the BP engine isn\'t going to exactly be steady!

Also, can someone with a road going bridgeported engine tell me what their emissions were on the engine, my FC allows for a 3.5% CO reading, my OEM FC engine is currently at 0.18% CO full decat but with air pump only.

"When checking exhaust emissions, the engine must be at its normal idle speed and normal operating temperature.
Engine speeds and temperature can be assessed either subjectively or by reference to manufacturer\'s or other reliable data"

Just don\'t take it to your normal MOT place - if it\'s not in the tables in their book they get lost and run around like a pack of mad monkeys....

Perhaps if I set the garage on fire with the exhaust they will pass it to get rid of it?
