Title: Have I blown a fuse?
Post by: r0t4ry on June 27, 2011, 10:06:12 AM
Hi there,

When I got in my FD yesterday I plugged in a phone charger into the cigarette lighter (never done that before but batt was running low and I needed the sat nav on my phone)

anyway, it didn\'t work and my stereo won\'t turn on now, and my aircon has stopped working (on the hottest day of the year!) still blows air, but it\'s just hot air.

Is there a single fuse that could affect my stereo and the Air con? or have I done something else?

Easy Mike! Still got the FD?! Check all the fuses in the drivers footwell and also the fuses in the engine bay in the bigger of the two fuse boxes on the passenger inner wing

you still in the same place as before? Pretty sure aircon fuse is in the engine bay fuse box. Try that first then try all the ones in the footwell!

Sounds like your \'15A Cigar\' fuse. It fuses your cigar lighter, air con relay, audio unit, power aerial, electric mirrors. To replace it, open the fuse box down by the accelerator pedal and replace the fuse in the bottom right corner.

No probs. Yeah Halfords will have them, its just a normal \'blade\' fuse with 15A rating.

Also check screwfix direct, I found they do a 120 fuse pack for like £10 with all the usual fuses :)

thanks for the advice guys. turns out it was the fuse that PDale pointed out. Also fortunately for me, there were some spares inside the fuse box cover so didn\'t have to go buy some.

bit of luck for a change!
