I have now decided to get rid of the aircon from the FC. I was going to keep it and had the Jap spec stuff to replace the tatty old rotten UK items - There are actually a few differences which I was not awear of and they do not simply change over.
Right so far I have removed everything from the engine bay (radiator, pipes, condensor & pump) and wanted to do the job properly and remove the item under the passanger side of the dash (is that the evaporator?)
So is there any advice on doing this? (anyone done it? Pictures?)
I assume I need a shorter belt now as there will be no aircon pump to go round?
Car is standard - will there be any warning lights thrown up because the aircon is no longer there?
I need a replacement pipe from a non air con car to fill the void left behind under the dash (unless I gut the old unit and put it back) anyone have a spare one??? ;)
ps : all I could find from a search was \'just remove where the pipes enter the bulkhead\' which doesnt really answer all my questions! ;)
the bit under the dash is the evap very easy to get out, you could gut it or get a removal pipe I got one off ebay that weighs nothing, I think they come from early FCs maby EGIs without AC.
You shouldn\'t have any alarms, the compressor and condenser were already removed from my car when I got it so I don\'t know about the belt.
Cheers
Cheers for that.
As some models never came with the air con then I recon I need the belt part number for one of those to replace mine.
Looks like I need to shout out for a replacement pipe as that sounds the best option :) (or have a look through egay on the offchance)
my jdm air con is removed. if u ever in my area then you more than welcome to have a look under the hood.
i dont know whats done but it works as usual and no error lights etc.
Cheers, that\'s pretty dam decent of you chap! :Thumbs-up.
So it all sounds good - looks I have another job on the list then!

if you need any others let me know and i\'ll snap away.
im not sure about the box u mention under the passenger well? too much effort to take out the dash (done it one on someone else car and nvr again !)
I think i might consider installing aircon in mine :rollin
Hmmmmm thought it was able to be removed with the dash still on place????? - looks like it may stay in the car if thats the case then! :chat
Recent heatwave has been tempting to keep the aircon for sure!
I know, i\'m pretty sure mine doesn\'t have it. Could be wrong mind.

i\'ve no idea but generally dont fancy taking the dash out for anything! :rollin
The evaperator in the foot well will drop out easy probobly only a few screws or nuts and bolts, most jap type cars have the evap in the pasanger foot well and easy to drop out its normally euro/yank type cars that have it mounted more centraly for left and right hand drive that require the dash to be removed.

Coolio - You have talked me into having at least a good go - if it works then I will be after the replacement pipe :)
