Title: Good Price
Post by: TrisK on June 23, 2011, 09:06:58 AM
Hi there,

i currently own a glanza v, but i am thinking of selling up for a RX7 FC T2.

The one i am looking at is a 1990, FC Turbo 2.
It is manual, and its in very good condition inside and out.
It is in black, and UK spec.

The best part is the milage, 19500 from new.
It has one previous lady owner, who used it to go to the shops and back. it has a full mazda service history, and regular oil changes.

The price is £1995 from a garage so negotiable.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Sounds like a good find, price is high but if its not got much rust on it its a good price. Best thing to do is budget for a rebuild as if its only \'been driven to the shops\' it might not have the longest engine life on it. The Rotary engine likes to be driven hard, best thing it to get a compression test done by the garage and post figures on here. That gives an idea as to how the engine is.

im gonig for a good look and a proper test drive on saturday.

i only had a walk about it on a forecourt the other day. so ill take it somewhere nice and have a proper look at it on the test drive.

but i didnt notice any rust?

where are the hotspots for it? or should i just check usual areas? arches, sills and sunroof?

I had read things about compression tests and \'the champagne test\'. I will get a comp test done by the garage. thanks

Comp test is a must and you\'ve got the rust areas right there. I\'m sure someone else will be around later to offer more advice (perhaps Prof) i\'ve only owned 2 FC\'s and one wasn\'t even a T2. Obviously check the usaul turbo points as well, finally check the oil yourself see what colour it is the RE really doesn\'t like dirty oil.

Finally (excuse my rudeness in the previous post) WELCOME TO THE CLUB :D

If that\'s genuine milage on the chasis I\'d snap that up in a flash. Engine may go
Bang, bit it\'s still a bit of a bargain

Hmm check for rust around the sills, low milage rotary isn\'t good if its original - short trips are bad for rotaries and if the car is sat for any lenght of time any raw fuel still left inside the engine will begin to eat the soft seals.

Saying that, if it all looks good, go for it! :D you will have a massive smile on your face once you drive it :)
