Title: 1308cc registration
Post by: andyrose on June 16, 2004, 05:09:01 PM
Just got my docs back from DVLA now states engine capacity as 1308cc which is good cause I\'ve had the car for over a year (first registered as 2616cc) and didn\'t think they would do it.

If you ain\'t done it yet do it now!
6 months tax = £60.50 yippeeeeeeeeeee!

Si, I just changed the capacity on the registration doc and sent it to DVLA along with a letter from Pip.

Cliff, I taxed my GF\'s micra and asked about the tax for my mazda RX7. He said aslong as the car was manufactured 3 years ago (not registered) I will fall into the lower tax band.
He even produced a laminated sheet showing details.
Will find out for sure next week when i tax the thing.

Got my road tax for the year at the end of last month for £110

Gave the local DVLA office a letter from Pip and the V5 and they\'ve sent it off to Swansea for update.  Ain;t got it back yet though and am starting to get worried again.

I would like to get my FD registered as a 1308cc, as at the moment it is registered as a 2616cc, what does the letter from Pip say that you have sent to the DVLA?

I gave pip my reg number and the letter he sent back stated something along the lines of \'I can confirm that the engine capacity of the above car (reg no) is 1308cc\'
It was just a one liner, can\'t remember exact cost (£5-£10)
DVLA had my documents for approx 3 weeks total

..that\'s what my letter from Pip said as well, and without any problems my car is now classed 1308cc...

Hmmm...

My RX8 is also listed as 2616... don\'t really care about the tax... it\'s just the implication that they can just randomly make things up...

If I have a 500cc 2 stroke bike, it\'s not classed as 1000cc, so why is the rotary so maligned.

think the RX8 is slightly different thou as tax is based on emissions since 2001 was it rather than engine size....? :xconfused

Yeah, they base tax on emissions now rather than engine size...so they can capitalise on the fact that even the Renesis pumps out more shite than a small power station!

My documents say that it my FD is 1300cc, but the tax disc in the window is the expensive one will I just be able to take my documents down with me and get the cheaper tax?

unless yer planning on selling before yer tax runs out i\'d be tempted to leave it to run out then go with yer 1300 docs & pay accordingly at a PO whereas if yer guna ask for cash back against yer tax c/o SORN then yer guna loose a bit on that anyway & may get DVLA looking at it specially if you take out tax straight away....depends if you wana risk it or maybe i\'m paranoid (http://instagiber.net/smiliesdotcom/otn/shocked/pain8.gif) lol

see the other thread i now have someone to torment at the vehicle policy group part of DVLA who were looking into it  so i\'m just working out wot to put in my letter back but they have the "directive" which i got given previously saying double rotary engines but i\'m basically guna point out this entire directive only relates to emissions so they can stick that up their arse if they aint got nowt better, not holding much hope but hell i have nothing to loose so just deciding how much of a threateneing letter i\'m going to make it........
Your sincerly
