Title: s4 n/a exhaust headers install question
Post by: scrappyfc on June 14, 2011, 12:16:15 AM
Hey guys, I\'m in the process of fitting corksport headers to my 88 fc, have had a few issues but one in particular I need help with.
Below the exhaust port on each housing is another hole about 18mm in diameter, I assumed these fed air from the acv to the outer core of the stock manifold (heat exchanger), the airpump is now removed, blockoff plate on the acv. The flange on the corksport header would block off these two holes.
The problem I have is that I have two gaskets, both mazda oem, supposed to be for my car, I fitted the headers with the gasket that covers most of these holes, but when it\'s running, I still have an exhaust leak coming from these two holes.

Questions; Have any of you had this problem before and how did you solve it?
Can anybody tell me what these holes are for and am I right to want to block them off?
Do I just have the wrong gaskets? if so, anybody know the part no. for the one I need (pic below of original)?

I\'m guessing that if they\'re for the heat exchanger and you\'ve removed it, then they\'re not needed anymore and you\'d be right in blocking them off, but for gods sake, don\'t take my word as gospel as I\'m just saying what my VERY limited engine experience tells me, best guy to answer this is the almighty Prof, lol.

With air pump remOved they are unnessecary.

I made my own gaskets to get round this problem, but someone like racing beat may have the correct gasket in stock.
