This past couple of days my car seems to be experiencing a few power problems, not as in bhp but as in the battery continuing to die on me..
The other day my alarm was going off as we were out shopping, came back to find the battery flat..not good..anyways i got jumpstarted by a good friend in his peugeot 207 which immediately bought my car back to life... I then gave her a 20 mile spin on high speed highways to try and put some charge back in to her, i got back home and the next day i got in to the car turned the key and hallelujah shes still ok...BUT the revs were dropping on idle going from 750..to 500 to 250....and then the engine cut out, restarted the car and it went fine although the revs were dropping like before so i continued to drive for about 3 miles and the needle was staying at 500 revs on idle when stationary...what could be the problem? I have no idea how old the battery is if it is losing energy? or is it a problem with my alternator not being able to charge my car enough? I use the car daily and im constantly worrying about switching her off in fear i cant start her again... someone please help?
It could be that your battery is knackered or the alternator isn\'t charging it up... or both.
Some batteries dont survive once they\'ve been drained right down no matter how much you charge them up again.
Go to your local friendly garage and ask them to test the voltage going to the battery to see if it\'s getting charge. If it is then hopefully its just the battery that you might need to replace
