Having just had a fantastic few days in good company at Cadwell Park I\'m eager to get the next event in the calendar sorted asap - Oulton Park on Friday, 22nd July !

Full details will be up later as I\'m away this weekend, but for anyone planning to stay overnight for this trackday I\'d urge you to get accommodation sorted asap as I\'ve been looking around and a lot of places are full, or only have 1 or 2 rooms left! I tried "The Swan" at Tarporley, which some of us looked at last year. It looked very nice, but it\'s Â£85/night B&B............

I have done a lot of research and I have booked in here - Sandhurst Hotel, Middlewich (http://www.sandhurst-hotel.co.uk/). It\'s a small, family run hotel about 9 miles from the circuit, with secure parking and really good reviews. It only has 10 rooms of which 8 are currently available. I\'ve bagged one for two nights; 21, 22 July, leaving seven available. The rate is Â£59.50/night for a single, B&B. If you want to book a room, don\'t hang about, as the rooms in the area are disappearing fast!. Call the hotel on 01606 834125 and book direct (I spoke to Rowena) -please mention "ROTARY" to Rowena .

There are a few very small B&B\'s at cheaper prices, but not enough rooms to accommodate the likely numbers. I\'ll fully understand if you want to "break away" and find a lower budget place, or want the luxury of "The Swan" :)

Circuitdays have this trackday on their website for Â£229. I\'ve managed to negotiate Â£210 if we can take 10 or more places. FULL MRC Members can also take advantage of a further Â£20 discount, bringing the cost down by 17% to Â£190. We are also happy to offer MRC Guest Members a discounted price of Â£219.

This circuit is one of the more expensive in the UK (and well worth it!); free tuition for novices is available at no extra charge (worth ~Â£25).

Get your hotel booking done asap (if you need o/night accommodation), pay for your place in the MRC Shop and post up to let us know you are coming along.

Excellent, we are getting there, but need some more takers to join in the fun to get to the minimum of 10 takers to qualify for the discount!

This is an awesome track at a great price for this time of the year. On a Friday too, so it can be a great start to a long weekend!

There must be some more RX-7 owners who\'d like to do this, at the moment it\'s 4 RX-8\'s, one FD and one FC!

More RX-8\'s are also welcome - FB\'s too :)!

Dear Malcolm,

Many thanks for choosing to attend the Oulton Park track day event on the 22 July 2011. This final instruction should contain everything you will need to know for the event.

Itinerary
Signing On 7.30
Briefing 8.30
Start Driving 9.00
Lunch 12.30
Start Driving 13.30
End Driving 17.00

The event will be run in open pit lane format.

Please ensure you read and adhere to the 7 point checklist below before commencing your journey to the circuit:

1) Bring your driving license - both the plastic and paper parts (please note that an MSA race license is not an acceptable substitute)
2) Make sure your car complies with any noise restrictions at the venue (105dB static)
3) Ensure your car is fit for the purpose intended; this includes brake, tyre, suspension and steering checks
4) Fit your towing-eye prior to joining the circuit
5) Bring suitable clothing as covered arms & legs are required at all times on the track
6) Slicks are not permitted on cars without adequate rollover protection
7) No hand-held cameras are permitted - any cameras need to be securely mounted in the car

Additional Requirements

The primary requirements are that all drivers and passengers read and complete a Track Day Declaration and Indemnity form (download link available at the bottom of this confirmation or in the sign on office at the circuit) and that anyone going out onto the circuit wears a helmet. Helmets are available to hire at Â£10 per day.

There will be a compulsory safety briefing at 8:30AM. There will be another briefing 1 hour later.

Additional Drivers and Passengers

We do not charge for passengers or additional drivers (4 of each maximum). All drivers and passengers have to read and complete the Track Day Declaration and Indemnity before going out onto the circuit. Spectators are welcome. Children under 16 years are not allowed onto the circuit.

Directions
From the North: Approaching using the M6 southbound and come off at junction19. Take the A556 towards Chester and follow for approx. 10 miles. Turn left on to the A49 and follow singage to the circuit. Oulton Park Circuit Little Budworth, Tarporley, Cheshire, CW6 9BW.

Petrol
Fuel is available at the circuit.

Garages
Â£30 to book in advance. Please email to reserve.

Tuition
A free 20 minute tuition session will be made available for novices (slots allocated at signing on). Further tuition is available at Â£25 for an additional 20 minute session, Â£150 for a half day and Â£250 for the full day. Please book in advance.

Photography
Xtreme Sports Photography will be present throughout the day. Please contact Nick on 0778 8825 952 for any specific requirements and to order CD\'s/prints.

Insurance
Contact REIS Insurance Management on 0115 985 0165 for track day insurance cover. Mention you are doing a Circuit Days event and that we are ATDO members (note track day insurance is not mandatory to participate).

Its is made up by your driving style :Giggle I\'m still overly cautious ! Getting better every time though !

Been Looking at a GT3794r_HTA possibly to replace the knackered turbo. Will hopefully fit on the current manifold and make some interesting power !

BRIEFING - I\'ve attached one, but most of you know the drill by now! However, please give it a quick scan to ensure you\'ve not forgotten anything. If anyone thinks I\'ve forgotten to include anything, spots any errors, or can suggest improvements, please le tme know.

CONVOY - I\'ll be travelling up from Colchester on Thursday, leaving about 11.30am, aiming to stop at the M1 (northbound!) Newport Pagnell services about 1.00-1.30pm for a bite to eat. I aim to leave there about 2pm, 2.30pm latest, to get to the Sandhurst hotel ~4.00-4.30pm. If anyone wants to join me at the start, or at the services then PM me, or post up here.

THURSDAY NIGHT DINNER - I propose we all meet up at the Red Lion, Little Budworth, where conann is staying. I\'m happy to take 2-3 passengers from the Sandhurst in my car, leaving around 7ish. Rationale; chance to meet conann, and recce the route from the hotel to the circuit. The route is the same one as we will be taking the next morning! The Red Lion is very close to the circuit (which is very poorly signposted!)

Well where do I start….

We suspect I blew up yet another gearbox and maybe other stuff.

This happened changing up from third to fourth on the start/finish straight. A bit alarming as the centre console lifted and was showered in black shards, whilst there was loud grinding and ganashing coming from under the car which felt like the propshaft was winding around inside the centre tunnel.

A bit disappointing as the gearbox had been fully rebuilt 3 years ago which equates to about 3,000 miles.

Anyway, thankfully Pip at WGT was able to send a trailer to collect me from Oulton Park and the car now resides with Pip to investigate and suggest a solution.

I think I should now say a huge thank you to all the people who mucked in to help me in my time of need.

Jim and Shaun for rushing around to find a solution to get my FD with oversize rear wheels and tyres on to a trailer which was designed to accept a standard width RX.

Shaun ended up kindly donating his rear wheels and tyres which meant the FD literally just fitted on the trailer, (thankfully we made it back to Oulton Park before security locked the gates with Shaun’s car inside on a trolley jack).

Jim kindly loaded all my stuff in his RX and drove me to the hotel to collect my other stuff and then drove me home.

Ian and Malcolm thank you for your support and assistance and a special thank you to Ian for saving my rear carbon wing from destruction from the trailers tyres rack.

I’m sure Ian will post up some pictures which capture the event.

Once again thank you to you all for helping me. As someone summed it up, “we would not leave a member when they need help.”

Note to self is to get pip some spare wheels that will fit the red trailer easily, some 18in rx8 ones and If we have the same issue we can whip them on and we know it will go on the trailer.

Its all good because it what makes us a club and community. I would always hope the same would happen with me if I lunched something.

I\'m in the process of uploading some camera footage from my run out with Chris in the passenger seat. The turbo sounds very good but there is still a bit of wind sheer. Camera was stuck under the front bumper. Got another 4gb of footage after the run with me going to the garage at lunch :Giggle

At least I know what turbo I\'m going for and it will be the same turbo but with a bigger A/R and Ball Bearing ! I know it fits the manifold and they do work really nicely on track !

A huge thankyou to everyone who came along and made the event so enjoyable; on the track, in the paddock, and the night before in the Red Lion. Ian & I were the only two who stayed a second night and ended up having a very tasty meal (if a little overpriced) in Middlewich, in a Chinese restaurant a short walk from the hotel. We escaped just before the Karoke started :2eek

I\'ve only got home a few hours ago so haven\'t even viewed my video yet......

A real shame about Chris\'s problem, but pleased everyone was able to come up with a solution to get the car recovered and Chris home safely (well down Jim for the taxi service!) - that\'s what makes being part of the MRC so good. I really hope the car problem isn\'t as back as it sounded and that Chris is back driving it again very soon.

I\'ll post up some video just as soon as I get a moment!

Here\'s one of two videos that I\'ve processed. This one is taken with the Novus Eye camera; NickD is giveing some tips. First lap, S-Finish line is 2m15, maybe even 2m14s? Second is 2m15s. Those were my best laps of the day, but I did do a 2m16s and 2m17s before the track got too wet.

Looks like your turn in is a lot better than mine. Nick did say the same for the left hander before the hairpin (not to slow down and to pull the car into the apex) but I just couldn\'t pluck up the courage to do it without slowing down. Although I was doing around 120mph when I got there ! Best I did was around 110mph and the car did feel squirmy.

One thing I enjoyed is Nick saying my car was a bit leery in the handling ! Said I was understeering quite badly, so I took 2psi out of the fronts and it improved quite a bit.

Do enjoy Oulton Park a lot !

One day I will get one of my cameras to work so I can find out how the car performs,
