Title: Some 1st Gen Parts in Troon, Ayrshire
Post by: David Nock (RIP) on June 08, 2011, 05:33:29 PM
Ebay link to a Black Bonnet:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1985-86-MAZDA-RX-7-MK1-SERIES-2-BONNET-/250833640574?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a66d99c7e#ht_930wt_907

Seller also has 2 X Glass Hatches, 1 X Gearbox, 3 X Starters, 3 X Alternators plus other bits and pieces. Mobile is 07796640453

Parts are from 2 or 3 cars, thought to be 2 Series 2 and 1 Series 3 so anyone wanting anything obviously make sure it\'s right.

99 quid for a rear hatch.... is he taking the p***?
How often have you found yourself desperate for a 1st gen rear hatch?
I skipped 1 last week and I\'ve got another to go to the skip next week....
Unless anyone wants it for free...

Yeh, but if you\'re not around these cars all the time it\'s easy to look at the (superbly engineered) hatch and think \'that must be worth something - they must bust every day\'.

But we know they don\'t and everyone seems to have a spare.

I think the cars were all series 3\'s now folks.

surely the clue is in the price the scrapper is making in the 1st place.... breakers are paying probably less then 200 quid for a scrapper and then asking £99 just for a rear hatch ... I can understand it on a modern car where there is plenty of demand... that\'s business... but 1st gens?  ... the demand, as said many times before, is minimal.

If the parts were that rare, desirable and sought after, the price of the parts cars would reflect this..... but they don\'t do they?
Most follow the same pattern, buy a breaker, ask daft prices, sell the engine and box and occasionally a few other bits then junk the rest.

99 quid for a hatch - WOW
I just bought a glass hatch, 2 rear side glass & a drivers glass for 5 quid - I only wanted the rear side glass though really.
