Yeah they come up every now and then. They\'re RE-Amemiya kits. Each to their own and all that!

Makes you wonder who would go for something like that! Different i suppose. but when you could get a RE-A widebody 2001 GT kit for about half the price you have to wonder...

New one would hopefully have light units like the ones in the DB9! Or something similar. Sleek, intergrated HID lights! Maybe an uprated RE-A sleek light kit? Dammit i want rex! :reallymad

Pop up lights wont pass pedestrian impact regs.

Maybe the sollution is actually stopping pedestrians going into the road, but nevermind

Why wont it pass?  do the pedestrians slide to far up the bonnet? so they would prefer they have their skulls shattered by a light

I can\'t even make a sentence about that.

"ridiculous", "daft", and "pedestrian responsibility?" are all here somewhere but I\'ll be damned if I can express myself any more than that.

I think the problem comes mainly when the lights are in the up position, as that would do a lot more damage then a normal shaped cluster.

personal opinion, but I think it ruins the original character of the car.  Might as well put a rotary in an old porsche...IMHO.

Its just a bit different, an RX7 crossed with a porka - you cant get better than that.  If its got a rotary in the engine bay its cool with me - hence the forum title!

Hey Gord. :wave U not getting along so well with the rotary adventure? You haven\'t had that long, right? I\'m currently in limbo, waiting for the sale of a property to be completed before i\'m going to be in a position to buy my own beastie. But silly little complications are holding things up inexorably! Frustrating!

But thanks for the offer, if it\'s still about in a month or two I\'ll be in touch! :)

Now that is a thought! :D

Pedestrians! get in the way of everything! Although really, if your lights are in the up position it\'s quite likely that they are on, if they are on and a pedestrian still can\'t see you they really shouldn\'t be crossing the road in the first place! IMHO :rollin

As for the topic at hand, nasty bodykit, if you want a porker buy a porker (especially for the cost of an FD and the kit!!!) if you want an FD buy an FD we all know that crossing species often doesn\'t work (that weird sheep/goat cross Geep? for example) so don\'t do it with cars! That\'s what I\'ve go to say on the matter - here endeth the sermon :wave

QuoteFD we all know that crossing species often doesn\'t work (that weird sheep/goat cross Geep? for example) so don\'t do it with cars!
:rollin

And as far as the lights go...oh boy. Is it REALLY going to make a lot of difference? If someone\'s gonna get hit by a car i\'m not convinced they\'ll be any worse off if they hit a pop-up light. More to the point, if someone stepped out into the road and dented my dream machine they\'d wish they had been tapped on the head by a light!! :D

There is not much wrong with this.

+50mm each side = fat.

The lights are not an exact fit but a bit of a mod and it will look great.

I\'ll chop it and see.

This was built by SuperAutobacs using the Amemiya Bonnet but the rest is custom and available.

Not keen at all on the Porsche/Rex combi! Now I like the 911 & I love the Rex but not necessarily together. In much the same way as I like Steak and I also like Chocolate (you see where I\'m going with this?) ..... BUT NOT ON THE SAME PLATE!!!

sadgoth...you are really cracking me up! :rollin stop it! stop it! :rollin

Russ...if the car was as impressive as your photoshop skills i\'d be ordering one right now! Top job! Again! :D

Gord...please keep me posted bud. Sounds v v intersting, and best of luck with your venture. I\'ll certainly let you know when i\'ll be viewing to buy, will you be operating a system like Miguel/Brian whereby customers place requirements etc and you source them appropriate vehicles?

I\'m trying to build up a good idea of what i\'d be looking for, quite like the idea of waiting while diff cars are found - like the proverbial needle in a haystack! Also, will you also be doing upgrades/servicing or just supplying the goodies?

Finally, looks like the car from that Auto Modelista game...but what\'s a Type R Sprint? It\'s a new one on me! Thought i\'d seen \'em all! :D

FDDREAMER,  If you want a modded one it would have to be 92-94 with these new laws, anything after that you will need to sva it,, and to do this a model report may be needed at this point in time there isnt one available, but im told there is one in process!!!!!!!!I would search jap site and auction to try and meet ur requirements as best as poss!As its such a new venture im still learning a lot about whats available in japan! As a said im new to the game so im not sure what im thinking of doing about imports so i may just stick with suppling performanc eproducts in the uk! But i will let u know if i have any further news!Only just got my first rex!

As far performance products, i am in the process of setting up an account with a large company who can supply a wide range of japanese performance products, apexi, hks , blitz etc! at present i am thinking of just suppling but i have a good friend who may be able to fit any products i supply, who is based over the road from me.

This really is a very new venture, and im not quite sure how close i am to getting the business up and running! With alterations still to be done to the show room! etc but i will start mail order as soon as poss!

Any uestion regarding anything i have mentioned , please send me a pm!

There are so many models available! Its hard to tell the difference as far as im aware it was only the later onnes which were sprints?/ Dunno may have got in wrong!

IF i come across any other  interesting rex/s in japan i will get them posted on the forum!

Gord

Blimey i have written alot

Damn that porsche/rex crossbreed looks sick!! i mean sick as in urrrggghhh!!!
why mess up the already sexy lines of an FD??? i must admit there are many nice kits, but that is not one of them!! :D
duno if any of you guys would remember, but one of them crossbreeds appeared in a issue of MaxPower a few years back, it was pink, and the roof was chopped to create a topless vert FD?????

It\'s about as nice as the \'porker-style\' gets, but i\'d still take a stock FD! Still, credit to the people involved - it\'s certainly an impressive feat of engineering...too bad they picked they FD to base the project on!

Gord...sounds great, really hope it all works out for you and it grows to be a successful, entertaining and prosperous business! Bet it\'s a huge headache getting everything ready!

I\'ll be in touch soon i hope...contracts are close to being exchanged, except the neighbour suddenly put the kybosh on proceedings by claiming a part of the property was actually legally signed over to her 50+ years ago!!!! Pretty sure it\'s nonsense, but obviously the correct parties need to investigate, and seem to be the slowest working profession in the world!

Yeah, seems to be more awkward with the new laws etc...does it mean that a model certificate would need to be drawn up for each different FD series? Believe there\'s 6 versions in total?

I know about the Spirit Type R (A,B&C) but seems there\'s even more models after them! Forgot to say also...how awesome is the full mazdaspeed kit?

Quite like the silver rex!!! looks alrite there!

There are companys taht u rent model reports from! They do all the donkey work! Processing model reports for different cars, at the mo there are none available, mostly  for 4x4s!!!!Evos and imprezas are ok thou!!!typical!

Thanks! Its been a lot of hassle, i am already in the motor trade but i just supply the trade and do a few accessories but getting tired of it and felt the urged to do jap performance products!

I have now got tyres available, most make toyos pirelli khumo etc etc so let me know when u have all managed to ruin ur tyres,:D

Gord,

can you tell who makes road legal slicks?  and what sort of money they would be,  255/17/40 or 45 prferable and 225/17/45.

I have seen a set of the dunlop dj thingies and they look really sticky.
I am gonna have to do something to get my 5th place back from max, although the secondary porting i have just done might help.....:burnout                 .................:D :D :D
