Title: Coilovers
Post by: slideordie on May 12, 2011, 01:43:13 PM
What coilovers are you guys all using?  I want something fully adjustable and with fast road spring rates, a lot of the JDM stuff seems to be quite hard and I want to buy the right set. Got a budget of about £1200.

Thanks

We have worked with GAZ in developing a new road damper. They are a single adjustable damper, although they proportionally adjust bump and rebound at the same time, and come complete with springs and pillow ball top mounts. The dampers have been fitted on 3 MRC members cars with great success.....they are currently on a 10% offer for the first 5, which brings them in at a retail of £842.40 inclusive.

I have a set in stock.

If you have further budget then I suggest you buy some new bushes, as this will transform the car!

I have these on offer at the moment, especially if you combine them with our successful pillow ball replacements.

Interesting, is there a feedback thread or anything on them? What are the spring rates?

Have you thought about getting adjustable shocks and springs? I might go with some Koni adjustable shocks and Tanabe springs, although a set of Gaz coilovers for that price is good, I had a basic set of Gaz coilovers on my mx5, plenty of adjustment from \'american\' to \'solid\' :)

Hopefully either Bimble UK or Trotter will come on and tell you they are happy with them!

Here is some feedback :)

Hi,

Yep I\'m using the GAZ shocks from Atomic on my car. I\'ve used GAZ before on a kit car so was happy to try them.

The HKS I had on the car already were 8/8 F/R spring rate and they were harsh to say the least. Maybe suited to track but not for use on our pot holed roads IMHO. I was happy to drop the rates down a little to the Atomic apec. approx. 6/5 F/R in kg/mm

That may seem low rates compared to typical JDM coilovers but then they have the roads to suit. The damping is appears to be well controlled and responds noticeably to just a couple of clicks.
