So as you may/may not be aware I\'ve just managed to pick up a very nice TII of Si (Ramirez) and before I ship it over I\'m looking at a few goodies I can send with her. The first one being a hks turbo timer and the loom. I\'m assuming these are a good thing to have to preserve the life of the turbo/engine? And does anyone know how difficult they are to fit? I\'m sure it\'s not a must have accessory but obviously I\'m always keen to improve reliability.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
You don\'t need a turbo timer because the turbo is water and oil cooled. Someone might be able to explain better as to why! :)
Would appreciate it if someone could, as to save me the best part of £60 if i don\'t need one ^.^
didn\'t realise T2 Turbo was water cooled?, but either way, from my limited knowledge, the point of the timer is to keep the engine running at idle rpm so the oil will still be cooling the turbo down? or you could just let the engine run down for a couple of mins when you\'ve parked up, which is what the timer is doing anyway
oh and if you decide to get the timer with the harness, it\'s very simple to fit, just plug and play as the loom goes to the igniton and 1 wire to the handbrake

:Tongue1
Alrighty then, i\'ll see if i can get one for a reasonable price then. Suppose its better to be safe, if i have to get out the car when i stop for whatever reaso and don\'t have time to leave it running for a few mins. There was on eBay yesterday for £35, but its ended now >.<
BenRX, I think you have misunderstood the graph included in the data sheet from bumpstart. The graph clearly shows very little rise in temperature for the water cooled turbo on shutdown, compared with a significant rise in temperature for a NON water cooled turbo. Hence (from Mazda test results) there is no need for (or benefit from) the turbo timer with the Mazda water cooled turbo system.

I don\'t see any graph, which probably explains why i found the post from bumpstart a bit strange. All i can see are the 2 quotes in his post an the smiley at the bottom. :(
edit: now you\'ve said that, if i click the \'domain not registered\' picture i can view an image with a diagram and graph. Thanks
not everyone can see image shack pictures here?
i was wondering why a few posts of mine showing pics have no replies
( such as the headlight pics in the monkhouse rx4 thread )
Yeah mate all i can see is a pic of a frog in an icecube saying \'domain not registered\'
like this

more or less
I can see the diagram, on IPhone and firefox??
I\'m on firefox, i\'ve not checked on the iPhone. If i click the image i can see it, but i didn\'t realise that to start with. I\'ve seen it though now, so i understand it.
Thanks
turbo timer is a waste of money, spend the money on other mods
