Title: How can i tell which bushes may be worn out?
Post by: Ada7 on May 08, 2011, 11:43:54 PM
When i driving the car sometimes it feels like its trying to steer to the left slightly (from the back end) but only when under power. Once i let my foot off the throttle the back end kicks out to the left and it feels ok again for a little while till slowly it starts to feel wrong again. It doesn;t do this all the time which i find strange. Some days it worst than others.
I have a 1.5 kaaz diff on the back but dont think its that playing up but rather a bush (or maybe 2 ) worn out.
Just wondering if there\'s an easy way to find out which one(s) so i can order some and then get them fitted.

use a pry to lever each component to check for excessive wear or movement, ie between the mounting point and whatever is bolted to it.

Have you checked your tyre pressures are even on the rear tyres ? I can get it sometimes off the camber of the road under full throttle !

Checked my tyre pressures and they were out quite a bit... 6psi isn\'t good right? :o
Got to get that looked out as may have a slow punchure which could be causing the knocking.
Guess its a visous circle, worn bushes causing excess pressure on the tyre, causing it to go down quicker, causing excess wear on the bushes, causing pressure on the tyre, causing... you get the idea :rollin
One more thing to add to the \'To Do\' list

Lol, you and your tyre pressures ;)

I was going to suggest the easiest way to diagnose knackered bushes is th waggle them about and see if they move, but someone already has so I won\'t.

...not being much help, am I dad? :o

Or a nail / Screw in the tyre :Giggle

Another thought would be is you have a stereo system in the boot. It could mess with the weight distrobution too !

And the stock pressure is 32psi !
