Title: Large VNT for rotaries?
Post by: m1tch on May 08, 2011, 09:20:14 PM
Hi everyone,

I am getting old and I am buying a diesel Volvo estate in a few months time, anyhow, it will be running the standard GT1749V turbo (awwww bless) but its a VNT turbo, so has no wastegate etc.

I was just wondering if there were any large VNT turbos that might work on a rotary? I like the idea of the VNT as there is no wastegate and the turbo is always in its efficiency island at whatever boost and it spools up much quicker etc.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a large VNT turbo that might work?

I was udner the impression that the sheer heat generated by rotaries ruled out VNT/VGT systems on turbo\'s, because of the very short lifespan it would give them, especially as most are meant for diesel applications.
