running a pair of ex f40 turbos and some weird suspension thing in the boot
http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/146484-rebirth-rotory-rocket.html
That is gonna be some car when its done !!!!
Me likes... ;) I wonder how much that thing will cost... =D
Too much. Looks like a fancy hydraulics setup in the back there. The pictures on the first page definately was a rayvern hydraulics setup as I can remember them being on a car in max power ages ago.
I don\'t really like to see hydraulics in an rx7 but it\'s certainly different and the owner must have more money than he needs as I\'m prety certain those carbon doors from Sri on are £900 each! That\'s just for the outer skin, god knows how much the carbon door cards are?!
Hopefully they won\'t put 20" rims on it and destroy the look of that bodykit he has acquired.
the wheels are on it grant 13.5x18" wheels...
arent the door cards for LHD?
Wow - i see he states on the first page that up until that point he has spent 23k on dragons work alone
Then comes 7k\'s worth of hydraulic bits, aragosta\'s, digi dash, base car cost etc.
Thats gunna end up being a £50k rx7
I wish i had both the money & the mental strength to do that.
I know that little voice in the back of my head would be telling me i could of bought a 911 turbo, ferrari 355, corvette, tvr sagaris, ultima gtr etc & hence wouldn\'t allow me to do it even if i did have the money - and i don\'t :p
Awesome car though & truly unique - is really nice to see one being done so well :)
Hmmmm....thats all I want to say on the matter
omg, :Thumbs-up
Just re read the post and saw in his sig he has owned several exotics (lambo\'s etc) already.
Guess he just fancied something different & had the balls to do it - fair do\'s :)
Does anyone know what the deal is with the boot mounted suspension?
I think it is still a hydraulics system on the car. That\'s why it has hard line running out from it.
the fuel rail hidden under the manifold looks good, very nice craftsmenship
think the money he is spending is massive but good luck to him he obviously works hard(or has a dirty great inheritance ;)...)
I\'m still not getting the suspension thing in the car and the Aragosta suspension combo...
to be honest I don\'t get a lot of it. He seems to have an awful lot of spare cash, but hey if that\'s how he wants to spend it, it\'s up to him.
not sure about the F40 turbos though...they must be 20 years old...seriously there is nothing better now?! What about one of those variable-vane turbos out of the 911 turbo...or am I being silly?
Ya, i was wondering the same thing. :) There must be better turbos...?
Just the turbo housings are used I\'m guessing the internals are hybrid. I think it may be mentioned on the thread somewhere. Pub bragging rights!
OMG .. that is some Build ...
hello everyone, that\'s my car being worked on at Dragon.

For anything you find confusing or as you put it "don\'t get" it\'s better to ask Ross, as he is doing everything. The turbos were also his recommendation. Initially I wanted a Greddy T88, but didn\'t want it to be too laggy, so went for the twin set up based on Ross\'s recommendation. Apparently these turbos had very little usage and they are in very good condition.
The only problem I have with the build is that, it is taking far too long than it should, and Im not happy with the progress of it all.
The hydrauclic bullshyte has been removed, so now, it has the aragosta suspensions.

Nigel, welcome to the world of "projects". My project nearly took 2 years to get to the 50 percent. I am still working on it and it seems that it will never end. Trust me..
Mir
I was hoping you\'d read this and answer some questions.
So what was the deal with the hydraulics?

I have answered this already in my previous post above :)

Who is doing the work for you? and have you paid for the cost of the project up front? I doubt it mate. I have already paid for the cost of the build, hence Im complaining about the time it\'s taking, but never mind... it won\'t be long now I hope.
custom projects always take a while to do, and are very very difficult to put a time on, im sure ross is going as fast as possible whilst maintaining the quality workmanship they produce!-better to have it finished to a high standard than to get it back \'thrown\' together!
I for one, cant wait for it to be finished,as it will have the one bodykit in the world i really like and cant afford(well i could but when it costs more than most standard rx7\'s i would be afraid to drive it!).
I see you say it has been removed but could you explain what was the thinking behind it, how it would have worked etc.
I\'ve never seen anything like it, am sort of curious as to what it was all about.
Good choice with the aragostas by the way, suspension i aspire to have one day :)

Mate, I am very straight forward person. I pay for the parts and work, before the builder starts on my car....It\'s just the nature of the tuners as they want to produce the best work. So your car will b ready soon. Pip at WGT is doing work on my car, previously I had a different tuner. Pip takes his time but his work is up to the standard. He is at the moment workin on my Motec ECU. Pips work and map is A top noch! Good luck with your project..

I was following the progress on this car from the link in the first post and thought \'fair play, someone has a few quid and wants to spend it on a rex, should look good\'. From the quote above you sound full of yourself and TBH a bit of a knob. Oh well, at least the car should look good when its finished.
As a side note, why do people pay for the whole project up front!? The project would have moved much more quickly if you had payed in installments for work completed as the project progressed. It gives no incentive for a tuner to work quickly if they have secured all your cash. They will be concentrating on obtaining new work/money as they don\'t have to keep you happy if they\'ve got all the cash!

Well paying for the project up front was demanded or basically no work would be done. I can understand that, as doing such a big project does cost a lot for the tuners too. And the overheads, and paying staff or other craftsmen for the customisation etc. But in my case it has taken a bit longer. Anyway, no point complaining about that now.
As for me being full of myself lool, all I can say is don\'t be a judgemental d**khead. And even if I was full of myself, what are you gonna do about it ? Stop being a foul mouthed c**t, I have joined here to talk about cars not about how big my ba**s are. And don\'t get the wrong impression I\'m your usual friendly guy :D

I can understand paying for parts up front, thats a given. But surely labour is an ongoing expense and can be paid monthly or whatever in installments, no? As you say, already agreed terms so no use crying about it.
"The only problem I have with the build is that, it is taking far too long than it should, and Im not happy with the progress of it all."
No, not complaining at all.... :Talking1
Your post came across very condescending, which was ironic as the person you aimed it at isn\'t short of a few quid either I\'m sure. :Ladys-man
Maybe I am a c**t, what are YOU going to do about it? I\'ve been called worse :chat
Anyway, I\'m interested in the build of your car. Happy to see a rex being pampered rather than broken and scrapped!
Guys, there is no need to argue in an uncivilised manner. We all work hard to fund our lives and cars. I would say LET THE CARS DO THE TALKING instead of us (Ref: Fast and furious Tokyo Drift, this was said by the girl before the very first race lolll) :) I am ready just before Rotor Stock 8 so... everyone is welcome to race me.
Nigel best of luck with your built. I can see you have spent a lot of money on your car and I seriously hope that you enjoy it as well and also beat various skylines, Subaru, Evos and 20B RX7 FDs :)
PDALE, I know what you are saying and I am aware that you know my car and enthusiasm for rotary really well. As I said above, let the cars do talking not us..... I hope this matter is not going to get further and we all will forget what has been said previously..
Mir
I will race you syed. 100metre sprint on foot?
Lmao!!!
I do like the car that dragon is doing for you and I\'m a big fan now that you have taken away the hydros. Even if you still have it painted pink!!

Probably best to think about it like this;
You have paid up-front for an agreed price, the work will always take as long as it takes, and the fact it is taking longer means that you are getting even better value for money as the car to be built to the very best standard..
..I would understand more if you were complaining about the build time if it kept increasing and you were paying by the hour :)
Crafting something custom that is a part of you always takes time, especially if the plan is changed even in minor ways, it has a habit of having a big knock-on effect!
It\'s v.good to see someone with your ideas and finances putting them into an FD! :Thumbs-up

listen mate, I dont\'t know what your problem is, If you think im some teenager and will drag on this silly meaningless arguement with you, I\'m not. Don\'t be judgemental and make stupid comments about people\'s character based on one comment. That\'s not very intelligent of you, secondly you have misinterpreted my previous comment to Mir where I said " I doubt you have paid for the cost of the build up front" this wasn\'t aimed at Mir suggesting that he has no money as such, I meant it in a different way, meaning a lot of garages wouldn\'t charge up front presumably!!!! not that Mir has no money (how th ffff would I know that?). Anyway, you do come across as a c**t by the way you even misinterpreted my post :Talking1 and now draggin it on. As I said I\'m here to make friends and share my enthusiasm about cars.
Gentlemen, this is the one and only warning:
Don\'t try to circumvent the swear filters! Play nice! :p
:wave
:guinnessim cool ....

where my car is currently being built, its setup as pay as i go, i dont earn much money and as such im working with the builder so that he gets paid and repeat business from me and that if i run out of money then i can just get the vehicle back and finish it myself instead of being left with a massive bill with no way of paying it off.
Ive never been to a tuner/garage where i have had to pay in advance, always pay on collection/completion
Any uPdates on your car then TT?

That\'s exactly what my point was when I said to Mir "I doubt you have paid up front" Yeah pay as the work is done is the best way. Well as of now, there are extra work that\'s being done to the car, and Ross has been kind enough not to have charged me for it up front, but that\'s for little extras here and there and some additional labour :Hammer

thread hi-jack but why not show them up on your build thread?
havent really bothered much with my build thread on here since the written off shell, as i can imagine most people laughing at me for not doing 200mph with the 10k, which to be fair was taken out of my hands and the money ive already spent i would have already of had a go at 200mph a couple of months ago, just life isnt as you plan out, if you wanna email me i can show you a couple of pics etc
