Title: It\'s time for another RX7!
Post by: Mulv on May 04, 2011, 02:41:38 PM
Well,
having sold my last RX7 a fair few years ago (this was the white single turbo beast I bought off Brian (Bnaellis)).   I think the time is right for another one in the next few months.  Hopefully aim to have another by the end of the summer.
Just need to brush up on my knowledge....
1 question though, has inusrance really increased that much, last time I was 24 with 0 no claims and I paid £2000.  I\'m now 30 with 6 years no claims and the cheapest I can get is £1200!!!  Is this about right - I personally seem to think it\'s a little OTT!
Any hints/tips.

So I will be looking for an FD in about 3 months time hopefully and start getting back into things again!!

I\'m 29 (well in 6days) with 8years NCB 3 points and just got quoted £530. I\'m trying to improve on this as this was my renewal quote.

Ah, I finally got in touch with Adrien Flux - they have quoted me £600 FC with all trimmings which I  will be happy with as my postcode seems to be quite a high risk area!!

Don\'t know if it\'s possible with an fd but try Peter best if you can cope with a limited mileage policy it brings the price right down. My fc with exhaust declared is only £110 a year but I can only do 4500 miles, that\'s plenty enough for me so it works well. :)

Hi Mate, I think Brian was telling me about this car. Is this the T04R which was making 400 plus horses and was unheard of at the time?

Limitied mileage policy\'s are best IMO, I pay £312 fully comp with Footman James (I\'m 29) - all mods declared on a 3000 mile per year deal. (1994 FD). Peter best only insures modded RX7\'s from the age of 30, so i\'d try them.. they usually come pretty competitive.

Hmm sounds good, we will have to meet up again when I get round to getting another.  I thought saving would be the hard bit, but am struggling to find a car to my liking as yet - The ones I like the sound of seem to go quick ....

Bloomin eck I remember that turbo job !!!!

Yep, I\'ve gone a bit mad with the FD :Giggle

Now completely stripped, no sound proofing, Weld in Cage, Ohlin Coilovers and single turbo with a Street port (died last yr so porting was in order). All ready for some trackday action.

Did wonder if we should have been in Garstang last weekend with the brill weather !

haha, that kind of FD spec sounds familiar......
Do you use her just as a track car??  Is she easily drivable on the road - that was my major issue with mine, it was a nightmare to use on the street!!

I\'d defo be up for meeting up.

Do you want to drop me an email with ur nos and I\'ll text mine across?

I\'m prob realistically looking at aug before I have the funds, unless I fine a cheaper one (I\'m budjeting for 5-6K on that timescale)

hmmmm, one small prob - It\'s red (I don\'t do red cars).  TBH I have a mate I was at school with who owns a bodyshop in blackpool, I\'m just waiting to see how much respraying would cost me!!  Also been in touch wuth Pip at WGT to see what I\'m looking at to rebuild and prep and engine capable of about 500bhp (when I can afford the turbo), gonna do it in bits I think, so I want something I can drive and have fun in, whilsrt I\'m modding it bit by bit!!

G

I basically want my old FD back but a bit easier to drive on the road!!

Would check for PFC first though !!!!

Yep mine is similar to what you had, I only have 430bhp though because I don\'t have a huge turbo (wanted quick spool). Although Mine doesn\'t have an interior to speak of, just a flocked dash.

As always its a work in progress !
