Title: NGK Spark Plugs BUR9EQP Question?
Post by: Mir on May 04, 2011, 01:38:45 PM
Hi Guys

I have just met someone, who is claiming that he/she can provide the above mentioned plugs (x4) for 45 pounds delivered (UK mainland only). I checked various places and found different prices for them, for example, Rotary Art is selling one plug for 15 pounds... I wonder, is that how much they go for as I paid more than that for them...

Let me know your thoughts on this, I have already paid him/her for one set..as I think I am cursed to buy plugs every one month..:Hammer

Hopefully the car is coming back from the body shop next week or so and then it will be shipped to WGT for Motec ECU....Hopefully my flooding issues will be addressed after I install the Motec ECU..:3gears-lh

I sold a set of 4 for around 35-40 a year back, not sure on what the prices are like now though. Much cheaper than the colder race plug equivalents though which sell for over 100 a set of 4.

I always get my plugs off this ebay seller, for all my cars:

£15 a plug is a joke.

The colder Iridium plugs last a lot longer like NGK R742s, BUR9EQP seem to crap out quite quickly on higher power rotaries.

Yes you are right! But I am only running in the car, so I thought I should not put 7420s for safety reasons...One of the famous engine builder, and you him well :), told me that whenever you are running in the car, don\'t use high powered designed spark plugs....

In my previous engine, I was running 7420-11s on Trailing, and 7420-9s on the Leading (did use -10s on the Leading too)...but believe me they use to get flooded as well. But then again, I know its all in the Map/tunning.. lets hope, this time I get it right..if not, don\'t know what I am going to do-may b breakers yard loll

Blitz, what sort of a plugs set up would you recommend??

Yes normal plugs are fine for running in should easy last the 1000 miles.

I would use the Iriduims number 11 in the trailing and number 10s in the leading.
It terms of flooding have the cranking and startup setups looking at on the ECU, might be pumping an bit too much fuel with the porting used on startup if you are regularly fouling the plugs.

When I went Full bridge I was flooding and wasnt easy to start, pulled a load of fuel out of the map for startup up,  now its starts up much easier hot or cold now

Cheers for the Info.

Yes this time, I am going for 7420-11s on the Trailing and 10s on the leading...

Hopefully Motec is going be my saviour loll

There\'s BUR9EQ and BUR9EQP - the\'P\' ones are a more pricey - but it\'s arguable whether they are worth splashing out the extra for.

Last set of BUR9EQ\'s cost me just £32 delivered for 4 :)

It\'s going to be Pip, we r building a brand new wiring harness for it and already bought various upgrades! Famous London based rotary tuner wouldn\'t tune my car, because of his mates issues with me. But then I understand his position.. He needs a space for his own work!
