Title: compression test on my new RX7
Post by: merlin2002 on May 02, 2011, 06:11:37 PM
Hi guys just wanted to get some opinions on my engine compression test I carried out today before I start spending lots of money on it.

She starts and runs fine, but Rich (plugs are black afer 10 miles on new ones, in comparison to my mates rx running a power fc which are no way black at all!!)

Ive done 2 vids one front and one for rear bank, any comments or opinions would be great.

The tests were carried out on a COLD engine not run for 24 hours

Hi mate that looks like good figures if its around the 8 mark, how many miles has the engine got on it?

Also a power FC if mapped correctly will certainly lower the chance of the plugs getting black due to running rich,

what are peoples opinions on apexi safc till money allows a power fc?

miles is around 50-60k

was imported in 2006 with these results
front
         7.75
         7.65
         7.15

rear
         7.35
         7.35
         7.50

its done around 10k since then, but i dont know if that was a cold or hot test!

Thanks
Rob

1 face is a bit less even on the front, if those were the 2006 results it might be an idea to just get the compression test redone with a Mazda tester, I believe a forum member has one and is doing tests at a much cheaper rate than main dealer, would give you peace of mind as then you will know the compression test was carried out correctly and at the right RPMs etc
