Title: wheel colour change
Post by: Grant Monkhouse on May 02, 2011, 03:15:09 PM
as i am struggling to find someone that wants to buy my car i have decided that in the mean time whilst i find someone that does want to buy the car that i am going to spruce up the wheels as they have seen better days.

My car is a silver base with silver metal flake over the top with a slight dash of blue in it, very subtle though.

a picture of the rear wheel.

(yes i know the front is riding very high but i am getting a new tyre this saturday and getting the tracking checked and they need the space to get the sensors over the wheel, so car will be dropped on its floor after this check up)

i was thinking of getting the wheels powder coated in some form of blue colur? maybe a blue candy, depends on the price really, would like peoples advice as to what may look good, and for the peoplethat are good at photo shopping to have a go at different colours, cheers.

If you\'re trying to sell a car, make it as \'neutral\' as you can - you already have quite a \'Marmite\' kit on there, and gawdy wheels will reduce your potential market even more IMHO.
I would stick with silver, or at most a dark gunmetal/satin black.

As an aside, if you are getting the alignment checked, don\'t then lower it afterwards! You\'ll screw it up straight away! Camber and toe change dynamically with suspension movement. You need the alignment checked at the ride height you want to run the car at. If the place you use can\'t align it at that height, go somewhere that can.

The problem I have with getting the geometry check when it\'s at the height I want it to ride is that most garages around here that can check it have lifts that need a ramp to drive up onto them. And even at the ride height I\'m at now will struggle to get onto their lifts without ripping the bumper off.

The height will be dropped 10mm max as I run the risk of not being able to get over speed bumps on my street without causing damage, the car is quite low to start with anyway.

I was I my thinking of changing the wheel colours as I was thinking of just keeping the car due to no sensible offers in my car and a number of people offering me PX. which I\'m not interested in.

Black wheels would have beenthe choice if I kept the car as they are partly black anyway.

If I was selling it, personally, I would put the wing, bonnet and wheels back to stock. Lightly rub down the 16" stock wheels and spray them satin black and maybe the stock rear wing. (which is what I\'ve done to my silver FD).

I get a lot of positive comments on the look of mine simply by changing the stock items to black. Then of course you can sell the alloys, bonnet and wing separately as they are always in demand and lower your asking price on the base car.
