Title: Hello, again.
Post by: RX rich on April 26, 2011, 09:45:02 PM
Hey everyone,

I\'m not new to MRC but it\'s been a long time since I\'ve been on here, and I thought id say hello again.

\'Welcome, RX rich.
You last visited: 30th March 2005\'

This was due to me losing my licence for drifting all those years back, and then going cold turkey on my interest in cars. Which I then took up modifying PC\'s instead.

So roll on all these years later and well, I guess old habits die hard and find myself perhaps wanting a rotary again. So here lies the my problems, believe it or not but I\'ve still to get my licence back! Also I\'m no stranger to the running cost of these cars as the last time I was behind the wheel petrol cost somewhere in the 90s per litre!

Realistically I think I\'ll be looking into an RX8 or maybe an old EGI (as I\'ve got a soft spot for FC\'s) as they are a little cheaper to run. Without having a turbo to worry about as well.

Quick question If you don\'t mind me asking, How much has your hobby been impacted from ever rising running cost?

Thanks,

Rich.

Welcome back to the path of true enlightenment :Giggle

I find rising prices affect the "hobby" of owning a modified rotary very little (it\'s not really a hobby as such for me, of course, that would imply it\'s something to do for relaxation and pleasure ). Blowing up an engine every three months or so means that you have time to save a bit whilst the cars in bits, thus paying for the next precious few months of being able to drive the thing. I really can\'t recommend it enough as a means of keeping running costs affordable. :rollin

Fortunately I don\'t use my car every day - otherwise I couldn\'t afford to run it now.

It does make me think twice about some events. Brooklands was a tank of petrol which is heading towards £80! :eek I used to attend the Darford meets quite regularly but just couldn\'t afford to just for an evening anymore. I\'m sure other people have the same issues. It\'s a shame but I guess that\'s the price you pay.

For me I couldn\'t afford my TII as a daily anymore (god bless the work van!) I gave that game up a couple of years ago. As a hobby car well it\'s fine. I open the garage and its there then I close the garage again till next time! Thats more to do with amount of time to use it though not cost of using it. As for FC\'s from what I have read TII\'s are as good or even better on fuel than EGI\'s.

P.S Welcome back :)
