Title: Ingliston Sprint 31 April / 1 May 2011

Next in the Scottish Sprint/Hillclimb championship is being run on part of the old circuit at Ingliston near Edinburgh.

The RX-8 will be out again, now in plain/unsponsored livery and I\'m looking on that as a positive as it means it\'s lighter :)

Still working to find optimum tyre pressures for the race Kumho rubber as I\'ve nobody else to learn from and even Kumho want to know what temps and wear I\'m seeing !!

SADLY, it has been announced it is a NO SPECTATOR event due to insurance issues. But, if anyone wants to come along PM me and I\'ll see how many "pit crew" access tickets I can get :) But, it seems even pit crew aren\'t going to be permitted beyond the grandstand buildings area. So not a great spectator event.

Real shame that I\'d previously negotiated club tent pitch and it may have been permitted if I\'d signed waivers. Apologies if anyone had read the initial offer in rx8oc forum but I\'d dropped the idea as no acess to the forum to follow up.

The option to come and stand and look over the wall from the A89 is still there and brings back memories for me as a kid 40 years ago doing precisely that :)

Real chance of doing better as the other cars in the class are all running diffs and gear ratios much more suited to short track and hillclimb. At Doune the top 5 cars were all within 1/2s of each other :) Sadly I was 5 :(

Well the \'8 is running well and within 0.8s of beating the class record. As the lap included a fluffed gear change in the hairpin I\'m hopeful for tomorrow :)

"Spectators" access is possible - gate 9 round the back is "open" ... but VERY limited places to actually watch. But if anyone drops in come round for a chat :)

Late update :)

Had incident in first run and aborted and I wasn\'t that sure after, so times improved but not by as much as hoped or for the right reasons :(

Since spotted some damage underneath , but mainly cosmetic.

Still, coudl have saved a few hundredths by getting closer to that bale :)

Friend had recorded a launch on his iPhone.

Really makes a mockery of asking me to do a sound check each event :)
No doubt some will lament the lack of low end rumble from it, but I look forward to the quiet when I\'m driving the 4 housr to theis weekends event :)
