Title: Modified live, Oulton Park
Post by: Grant Monkhouse on April 17, 2011, 01:14:05 PM
Went to watch the drifting yesterday and came away a little disappointed with the event compared to last year.

I beleive 6 out of 8 of the drift cars were silvias, the others were the SVA imports 350Z( which on a sighting lap managed an impressive rear entry on the first corner) and a Toyota Cressida which was practically standard and running half the HP of the other cars.

The organisation of the drifting was rather poor, as cars would apper over the top of the hill before the commentator had said what was happening.

Was a shame to not see Pete Barber competing this year but I think he can\'t due to financial reasons. So there wasn\'t even a rotary in the mix with the boingers.

Any bodies thoughts as to which drift event is better? BDC? Do they have more cars competing in that organisation?

BDC has far more entries.  I understood the EDC was invitational.

yes it is but they could invite more than 8 cars, it just isnt enough, having to sit watching the time attack in between the rounds of drifting isnt fun at all.

even the minis racing was more interesting than the TA, and the racing truck demo at the end was also better than the TA

You didn\'t miss anything, apart from maybe the racing truck. That was flying round the track faster than Clive in his rx8!

I was Micky impressed with its turbo too, it was big enough to suck the leaves off the trees as it drive around the track! It was a schweitzer turbo. Which I think is what borgwarner used to be?
