Title: new home for the FB :)
Post by: Marcrs on April 13, 2011, 01:09:37 PM
Most of you will know the problems I have been having with vandalism lately - to the point I nearly gave up ownership :2eek

Two weeks ago myself and a couple of friends took on a workshop, which is large enough to store the FB in long term - giving me somewhere to keep it and work on it :chat

This is as it was...

so we cleared it out...

garath and chris cutting the extraction pipes down to size ready for a trip to the tip...

kitchen area

some paint on the wooden partition

and then the FB found a nice spot in the corner :cool

and this is why it now needs a respray...

Still, onwards and upwards, it\'ll be safe there...I even have space for some of my cleaning stuff :Hammer

Doubt it\'ll be ready for any shows this year, but we\'ll be back looking good again next year for sure :3gears-lh

1stly Malcolm - very glad to hear that you didn\'t give up on ownership. If you had of done I\'m sure in the future you would have truly regretted it so don\'t let low-life like those b******s get you down too much - I\'m sure your day shall come.

Bit of an extreme exercise though to take on a book shop just to house the much loved FB - then again, perhaps it just goes to show the lengths to which dedicated owners will go to preserve their pride and joy :InLove.
Wish you well in the new secure building and if by chance you get a slack moment you can always polish the books with those trigger happy bottles :Laugh.
Ta
Cliff

looks awesome! Wish I had somewhere like that lol!

On a brighter note...you can probably save yourself a respray by feathering in the key marks...Ive done it a number of times on keyed cars...you would never know it was damaged...

Get some matching paint, literally paint it with a brush into the grooves, keep applying until paint has built up past the surface, when dry rub down with 2000 wet to flatten with rest of body work, then lastly use cutting compound to get rid of the sanding marks.

Saved a number of cars from pricey resprays this way...food for thought :)

Sorry about the mindless twxats.

What a superb workshop though.

I\'m a bit worried about this \'tip\' business. Wish I could\'ve had a rumage through whatever you\'ve taken.....(I\'d have found a use for that elephant\'s trunk ducting one day as well).

There Grinder, we\'ve both missed out.

I\'m a bit confused...Malcolm??? Bookshop??? :xconfused

We did manage to salvage quite a lot, including a stainless steel tray to make a parts washer with :)

Took a few more pics last night, got the other 323 in there...

Sorry - that\'s old age catching me up at an extreme rate, for some bizzare reason I thought I read \'bookshop\' originally :o  - brilliant workshop though and just has to be safer for the rex.

Yes, should be safe in there :)

JBerg, I will have a go at improving the keyed panels, got some paint on order...nice to have somewhere to do it :)
Then will come the new doors -I have a pair of green S2 doors that are pretty rust free, so I\'ll swap them over.
Then I\'ll start on the rust on the arches...and finally a respray of any part that needs it...hopefully not the whole car!!!

Grinder, I\'ll pm you :)
