I have my new project car now so white one as you know is up for sale. This is a long term project to be ready for rotorstock next year. If done sooner then even better, but need to throw a lot of money on this to make it what I want. I expect over 600 bhp, will need some help probably from the likes of Glen Butcher & Bill shurvington with regards to water injection or methanol etc setup and I will be boosting around 25 psi providing I don\'t blow it up while tuning. Next year will definitely see change in serious rotary power in the UK.:D

Hi Brian! great news!
What engine/gearbox/diff you going with?
.ps Why not go all out for 800hp or so from a 13B? :) it is possible!
H Glen,
800horses it owuld be fun but don\'t think I could get that kind of power and still keep the thing road legal.lol
engine is a 13b not quite sure whether I will run a larget street port or a half bridge. I am making enquiries regarding the box at present I suspect it will be a custom jb though rather than say the hks box. I am talking to a few people to try and find out what they use for big power application iwth regards to a diff. I know the ford 9 inch is quite bullet proof but I want it to be a car fun for the road at weekends also not just a drag car. I will keep this thread continually update as I go along with upgrades etc just need the car to arrive now so work can commence.

I believe the HKS box is just a re-badged Quaife? - check this first. I also believe that the ratios in the Quaife box won\'t be suited for drag racing, as it has a long 1st gear etc.
Looks like it will have to be the sequential drag holinger! :) got a spare £8000??
how about one of these ?

or get a transmission adapter and use a toyota supra box of some sort ?
I had a think about this during the day - why don\'t you run a tricked up Auto Brian? I know you like Auto\'s!
Oh noooo,
Imagine all that strain onthe transmission with over horses
sitting at the staging lights torque braking. lol
I am actually trying to lose my reputation for breaking my transmission believe it or not.:rollin

Actually Iwas tring to find an old threadon the U.S forum.
I remember a while back someone was making an adapter plate to fit I think it was a corvette gearbox to an fd.

If you want to go custom - might be worth a chat with these guys (http://www.gearboxman.com/).
I\'ve used them for installation of lsds in the past but they know their stuff:
QuoteWe have at our site most machining facilities, including Milling, Turning, Grinding, Welding, Spark-erosion, Heat-treatment, Jig-boring, etc. In addition, we can offer "one-off" gear manufacture, Shot-peening/Polishing and Cryogenic stress relief.
That GURU box looks fantastic for drag racing, change times down to 35ms, that has to be a winner.

Not sure if that will be strong enough.
Carl was talking about that car having over 600 bhp when he\'s finished with it so question is why is it being sold unless it can\'t handle 600 + bhb ?

Doesnt the \'vette use a T56 box?
Lots of big torque guys use T56s mod\'d, may be thats what yer thinking of Bri?
Another place to look would be G-force in the US.

Maybe he wants the drag version instead??? I guess there is only one way to find out.........ask him!;)
Good luck with your project, sounds very interesting,
Paul:)

Guru know their shit.
I can only think its being sold cause its the circuit gearset, not the street/strip set. I think GaryG wants an all out drag car? so the Guru gear set (thats what u buy, not a gearbox) he has isnt right for 1/4 mile thrashing...
you guy\'s are too helpful. So you should be all this is all your fault after all. There\'s me a few years ago was nice and happy in a stock car. A few years with you crazy lot and i\'m a mod lunatic:yes

Even managed to convert u from a slush box!

LOL yeah it took some doing though:rollin
thing is to be really quick on a 1/4 mile you need to go back to an auto :D

Thing is it\'s not being purpose built for drag racing.
A bit of weekend fun would,nt go amiss:D
Hi Brian,
Gary Goodings gearbox has got circuit ratios in it.
He needs a box that is more suited to the drag strip.
Guru do make the ratios for drag racing and they are very well made.I look forward to your project.
Kind regards
Carl
Right gents,
If I want to run up to 25psi 1.7 bar do I prefably want the ecu to control the water injection or does it not matter ?
Is there any system that is preferred? my main concern is if the water injection fails and stops working is there any wya I woul be able to tell befofre engine goes snap crackle pop ? I kn ow egt gauge will tell me but I suspect the egt gauge would probably tell me too late.
Thanks
The decent WI kits have fail-safes that will retard and drop boost I think, also have a warning light on the dash.
Why stop at 25psi mate, go for 40psi and methanol and all that other cool shit :D
I hope I can get to 25psi without popping it\'s a lot of boost for a 13b. I know it\'s risky running that kind of boost and I haven\'t been tuning these things all my life but if we\'re every gonna get up to speed with what the rest of the rotary world is doing we gonna have to take a step of faith. Might lose some money and pop a few seals but i\'m going to give it my best shot. The only reason the U.S, AUS, NEW.Z, JAP etc can run serious high boost 13b rx7\'s is because someone made there mind up to let there car be the potential scapegoat and give it a try. I know there we\'re some that thought/expected I was gonna pop my white single turbo when I went to CPL but knowledge is not just available to the knowledgable but to whoever is willing to learn.
The most difficult part to this project is keeping the thing streetable while being an absolute animal on the track.

get a J&S knock redarder once the waterinjection fails the engine will start to knock for shoure and the J&S will kick in, im not an expert on this just general knollege. this is the link to there web site http://www.jandssafeguard.com/safeguard.html
The only problem I envision with this product corretc me if i\'m wrong is that with a rotary engine have both leading and trailing spark. the j&s knock sensor will retard the leading timing depend on how much it retard (good few degress to be useful) it can cause the trailing to fire first if the split timing is set close which is even worse under boost.

Mate, what do you think Ross, Tim, Geff, Carl etc are doing at the moment? development = time, money and engines... All these things are limited in supply in one way or another to a greater or lesser degree. Its unfortunate that there are lots of clever ****ers who like to gob off when engines blow up when without this happening the UK will be stuck in the rotary dark ages forever.
I dont think any one expected the white car to blow up on the rollers? On the strip may be :D
As for the knowledge-bit, learning is one thing, experience is another mate - not that i\'m knocking u and your efforts, I applaud any one who has the persuasion to try. Lots of people know (or have an opinion on!) \'perfect\' A/F\'s and ignition and so on; but cars dont blow up cause tuners try and tune to unrealistic parametres, or because they\'re all stupid; its all those little things u dont realise about or consider until you have blow engines up and worked out why.
Again, fairplay to you Bri; I\'m just saying until you do beat an engine you\'ve tuned round the head a few times and blown an engine or 10, you might not necessarily have considered every thing there is to consider :)
Finally, I think there will be engines running 25psi over here soon enough you know. No, we arent making the HP that the rest of the world is making atm, but its not to say we dont have a clue how to do so...
Any ways, back to the applause: good luck with the project and hopefully it will come together well and encourage more UK rotary interest.
Oh, where will u get your engine (engines!:D) built do you think/know?
As sven Goran Erikson said about Ledley King yesterday how does he gain experience if I don\'t play him?
Brian wafflles aimlessly.
Ahh, football analagies(sp?) :)
<<(yoda voice on)>>
Play him once you will - but an experienced international make you will not :D
<<(/voda voice on)>>
Loooking forward to the footie later mate? Cant wait :)
Best of luck with this Brian, I think its fantastic that you are willing to to give it your best shot - rather than just make do.
The result will hopefully be truely amazing:D
Sorry you couldn\'t contact me last night - was it very important?
Best regards
Steve
I spend a lot of time asking the seasoned experienced rotary guru\'s questions how to\'s etc so yes experience is something I lack personally but as long as experienced people are willing to share their experiences then it means I shouldn\'t have to travel down the long lonely expensive lurning curve road that they had to to attain to the same goal.
There will be 25 psi 13b\'s running here soon you wanna tell me more ? is it it secret at the mo ?
I\'m really looking forward to this though I must admit just can\'t wait to get stuck. I f money were\'nt an issue it would be ready so much sooner than rotorstock 2005 but you said there are always limiting factors.
Engine build mmmm I\'ll actually have two. Running that kind of boost i\'ll definitely need a spare handy. To be honest of the car was to be more standard as far as power is concerned I would of done it myself but I am not experienced enough with different kinds of race clearances on parts as i will be revving to
9,000-9,500 rpm this is very important. Engine will be built in the U.S I believe not not made up my mind yet.
Main thing will be the looks it will be quite special. If I run out of cash I will have to sacrifice some of the performance goals but as long as the styling is finished that\'s the main thing.
