Booklet landed this morning.
Any thoughts or opinions, is the change good, bad, will it give parties outside the top three more clout, if it comes into place will everyone exercise their right to nominate an alternate vote?
I think you either do proportional representation or you dont, AV seems to be half way house.
Why should I have rank parties?? I either vote for the party I want and thats it, if I dont like the other parties why should they get my secondary vote, I DONT want to give them a secondary vote!!! grrr
really it should have been a vote on proportional representation and I would have voted yes for that. but for AV stick it up you arrrse lol

From what i have read, you dont HAVE to give a 2nd vote if you dont want to, which was kind of one of my questions, who will use it?
just shows you they dont make thie clear in print , most people will think they will have to give a second vote.
There has not been that much talk in the press in regards to the AV referendom yet, probably be a low turn out for this round of voting and local election voting
I think its more the case that nobody apart from the politicians really give a toss

Seemed there was a lot of very excited people wanting a change in voting at the last election, but cant help think like you, the majority dont really give a t*ss and one party will get there vote!
the only reason i voted LibDem was for electoral reform, hoping they\'d push for PR.
that said, anything is better than FPTP so i\'ll probably vote "yes". all this whinge about "FPTP produces strong governments! AV will give us weak coalitions!" seems pointless to me; if we want a strong government we might as well give up the whole voting farce and settle for dictatorships, why bother with representation if it doesn\'t actually represent anyone?

Probably because the guys with the most votes didn\'t get in.
There should have never been a coalilation (they will never work), if the majority of votes wasn\'t great enough then have a re-vote until it is.
I dont care what system gets in, all three major parties are all a bunch of C....., the coalition seem to be less of a bunch of c.... then the last government but c.... all the same, at Least Brown admitted mistakes today in dealing with the banks, shame Ed suck my ahem Balls cant admit fault for his part.
I think the current proposition is a hopeless compromise that achieves nothing for anyone involved. It\'s transparently something Cameron had to promise Clegg if he agreed to become his lapdog in order for Cameron to throw a very thin veneer of legality over his unelected government. It changes exactly nothing for the poor deluded fools still putting their pencil cross on a ballot paper. It also changes exactly nothing for the Lib Dems, except for them to claim some moral high ground and bask in the reflected glory of their triumphant "electoral reforms".
All government is oppression, and the farce is made so much more repellant by the fact politicians these days are wrapped up in a quest for power for its own sake, not to improve, make safer or more worthwhile the lives of those who elect them. Bliar is the living embodiment of this me me me generation of politicians, a man who ran the country for his own self-aggrandisement until he had shlt in his own bed so much that he was in danger of drowning under a tide of his own excrement, then he jumped ship to the private sector (if there is such a thing in the world of eighty-quid signed photos and thousand-pound a minute public speaking). This is a man who thinks nothing of admitting to an allegedly impartial enquiry representing the highest judiciary in the land that he lied and ignored expert advice to take our coutry into a war that he knew was illegal, simply because he "believed it was right."
We are governed by fools who think that if they propogate their lies and personal agendas with enough conviction then it will somehow convert them into fact. It doesn\'t really matter which colour the baboon on the pulpit paints its rosette, it is essentially still just a monkey in a suit.
Free country? Democracy? Don\'t make me fduking laugh. You have the freedom to do what you\'re told. You have the right to vote for things to stay the sama.
Ooooh, got me all riled up now
This little ditty sums up the state of the coalition nicely.

Funny how the Lib Dems have gone all quiet on the Strategic Nuclear disarmament thing though. Perhaps they have seen what is out there and don\'t think it\'s such a bad idea.

OMG, that\'s the first time I\'ve actually cried with laughter for a long time. We should start an internet campaign to get that to beat Cowell the AntiChrist to Christmas #1 right now :rollin
I think he\'s a bit too "esoteric" for mainstream tastes although I would love to hear some of his stuff in the charts.
His back catalogue includes such seminal work as:
Wank the Dog
Perverts on the Internet (Don\'t tell my mum)
Use my ........ as a .... (the original and the Nick Clegg version)
I sucked off bloke
and
....sticks
I\'ve not hidden the rude words because I feel the swear filter only adds to the appeal!

Coalition doesnt work, Labour certainly didnt work and if we kept voting until one party had a majority, well, it could take years and dont think that would be good for anyone concerned.
Well at the moment looking like a 68% no with only a 41% turnout, you can be pretty sure those who wanted it, turned out to vote, so a complete waste of time and money, well done Liberals!
I think you can take the entire thing as a vote against the Liberals, even by those (like me) who chose to register their disgust by not turning up to vote at all. I won\'t even give it any undeserved credibility by voting against it.
Didnt bother myself Mr Greek, i guess when the Tories gave them that in their policy thrash out they must have thought, no need to worry about this one! Seems such a waste of money though to campaign this one!
Seems the SNP did very well in Scotland too and talks of independance, bring it on!
