Title: FD3S - Plenum to Air By Pass hose missing?
Post by: ChrisDubbya on April 11, 2011, 09:46:10 AM
Hi,

It\'s been a few years since I owned an FD let alone been on this forum, but I now have a new one :mmmm

It needs a bit of tidying up but runs nice and smooth, ish.

I haven\'t taken it on a run as I need to unsorn it and tidy up a bit but I have noticed the hose which should run from the plenum to the air by pass valve has been capped at the plenum end.  Could this cause any problems?

The one issue I know it does have is hitting fuel cut under very heavy accelleration in third, but I believe this due to the exhaust being to free flowing for the standard ECU.

any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Ok a few views but no responses yet!

I have done some more research online and checked the car over a bit more it seems the fuel cut is occuring due to boost creep, it is stock apart from an apexi filter and toad back box but the boost spikes just before the fuel cut occurs so a boost controller or restrictor plate might be required.

Hi Chris,

I have the same problem as you regarding the air pipe coming from the plenum being disconnected with no cap!!! I have HKS filters fitted to my FD so i assume that on the original air box this pipe would have plumbed in somewhere, now it\'s just been left hanging un-capped by previous owner in Japan. Also the metal 90 degree pipe coming off the air pump has no rubber pipe on it and is also uncapped. I was planning on just capping them and seeing how it goes although the car i am pretty sure still has its cat converter in it so i may confirm that and just pipe it all into the HKS intakes!!!! Hmmmm what to do.

Glad I\'m not the only one with random pipes disconnected! I can only imagine this is the state mine entered the country in as well, it runs and other than the over boost I can\'t find any other faults so can\'t be doing any harm (I hope!)

Good idea I\'ll be moving the car tomorrow so will take some pics and hopefully that should give a bit of a clearer view of things!

Cheers
