20 degrees in April.....Lovely weather for car jobs.
Changed Gus\'s front pads today....54,150 miles and first change. Not too bad I don\'t think. Plus disc are unmarked, negligible lipping. I\'d make a great chauffeur, no hard braking on my watch.
The new pads were Lockheed, about £5.50 off ebay 3 years or more ago. Had \'em on a shelf, waiting.
The anti rattle spring that snakes across the back of the pads took me by surprise. It only had 1 bent end to locate in the hole in the inside pad. I thought it had snapped off at the outside end, until I found the other wheel was the same. The outboard spring end just tucks inside the caliper fork and snuggles inside, not into any hole or anything.
Beats the blxxdy merc for working on. If it had been that car I\'d no doubt had to reset the steering to the ABS/ESP system, interrogate the STAR system for any fault codes and check the SAM system was talking to whatever\'s inside the management system. God help all who work on her.
SNAP! the 1st time I did the brakes on my SA I thought the same thing as you. It is a simple method for backing off the brake pad though.
I always find the worse aspect of the brakes is the dust - it gets absolutely everywhere and the trouble is the dmage to \'you\' in the long term if you inhale it. So always brush away from you and not into \'wind\'.
