Title: Which clutch??
Post by: Adam fc on April 06, 2011, 11:18:41 AM
Hey, im after a new clutch for my fc t2 thats running around 270bhp.

Its currently got a ceramic metallic puck clutch which is pretty brutal on engagement but is starting to slip so needs replacing.

Id ideally be after an organic clutch but im worried that they wont support the power that the car is running.

Or should i man up and buy this-

I know i could buy a twin disc organic but that is way to much for my wallet at the moment! cheers Adam

I run the uprated Exedy Organic clutch and it can take my 300+ BHP no problem.

It doesn\'t live long if you\'re going to drift it or do a load of high RPM tail twisting launches on sticky tyres though...

It all depends on your application and whether you want a good everyday clutch that will allow some fun on occasions - I get about 2 years wear on a daily (12000 miles a year) driven car with some hooning activity thrown in - so you get you\'re monies worth.

I\'m looking at a Cabonetics clutch with Exedy cover plate for the next upgrade - see how that lasts compared - should still be quite streetable.

Exceedy organize are really nice imo. Very nice for a daily. Drifted with it a bit but not alot with hassle. Can imagine it wouldn\'t last to long on a drifter

I am running about 250bhp in my Fc and use a Exedy Stage two Paddle Kit Clutch for drifting.... Hasn\'t missed a beat and its been in the car for almost a year now, its also not too heavy and bites well
Hope this helps :)

Quick question on the back of the OP\'s, does anyone know what I would need for an EGi? The TII ones aren\'t the same are they?

EGI gearbox input shaft has a different number of splines, so the friction disks are different, but I think the flywheel mountings are the same, so cover plates are interchangeable - but don\'t take my word for that...

does anywhere do organic/aftermarket for the EGi\'s then? MRP do a replacement, but I don\'t think its an uprated, and google is fruitless
