Title: Smoked indicators anyone?
Post by: Skifledanabit on April 04, 2011, 12:28:18 PM
Looking for a pair of smoked side indicators, just experimenting really, anyone know where to look? eBay and google are fruitless

I have a pair of crystal clear TII ones on mine and they look stupid T_T

My thanks to whoever put them on there before I bought it! :D

There\'s no direct replacement for the orange dalek eyes - if those are the ones you mean.  I was toying with the idea of modding some MX5 ones - as these are available in smoked clear - but it\'s not a straight swap.

For front lenses - just dremmel out the orange ;)

Yeah, it\'s the dalek eyes I\'m on about... What would need to be done on the MX5 ones?

Lacey: I\'ve never been keen on clear lenses, unless it\'s for White lights, the smoked lenses on the other hand may look quite nice on a black FC

The MX5 ones are larger but lower profile - but the whole needs modding to get them to work in it.  I\'ll see if I can post a pic of the ones I have and a spare dalek if I can find one.

I just borrowed some tiny spray from a friend and have done my front indicators (orange already pulled out, orange bulbs fitted), side indicators and rear lights. Looks better all round!

Unscrewed them, and sprayed them. A LOT. LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS until they were uber black.

I de-tangoed the front of mine, didn\'t really want any more water getting into the front of the engine bay or all over the electrics!

Surely that wouldn\'t show any light through them?

They both visibly flash orange - and my MOT was last week, so they pass. Just make sure you\'re using lense tint, not spray paint of course :p

The thicker the coating, the glossier the finish. Hence why when my rear lights didn\'t quite match and I gave 1 a light coat to even them up it came out a near matt effect rather than glossy :(

Hmm ok... Where did you get the spray? Did you spray the outside? Didn\'t lose the orange plastic at all, didn\'t get orange bulbs, literally just spray and go...?

The tin says \'tail light tinting\' made by \'Savage car parts\'. Literally just sprayed the outside. I got it from a friend, shouldn\'t be hard to find though.
