Welcome,
Get some pics up if u can.
X reg only needing a radiator,you\'ve done well!
Best options find a good 2nd hand rad,or recore it.
Values have plumetted in credit crunch,can\'t really give value till you put up pics, condition, mileage etc.
Even then you\'ll get different estimates of value!

Hi,
welcome to the forum...
don\'t bother trying to fit a rad out of a different type of car... just go for the tried and tested proper rad out of a series 2 car... if you use a series 3 rad you\'ll have to move the oil cooler... = hassle!
Cooling is critical to the life of these engines... don\'t take any chances with it.

cheers,
Ian

Welcome indeed.

You will discover that we are all picture hungry / addicted (perhaps something to do with our early upbringing?) so the more pic\'s the better.

As regards radiators, RX\'s need big efficient radiators and good cooling - and are very upset if they don\'t get it. I am in the school that says recore what you have got. However you are about to dicover that there are multiple views on many things on this forum, and an awful lot of people who are better restorers than I am. So enjoy!

Any history with your car? (we like stories as well....)

What is the weather like in Kilmarnock?

I doubt if there are any 30 year old rads left out there! Nothing wrong with a good second hand rad if it\'s in good nick

The rad in NEV is spotless, I\'m reusing it on the 13BT it\'s probably just as efficient as some great big thick chinese made crap available.

High Chris.
Many welcomes mate.

If she\'s good in the back wheel arch reinforcing plates and in the rear sills the Gumtree Ad was about on the money @ £450, allowing for haggling.
I did wonder how the seller had priced it so accurately, since this was the first sighting of your car (i.e. must have been in the OC long ago, \'cos not recently).

Many rads are in poor condition when these cars change hands so not always easy to find a better one. Remember, as Ian says, S3 rad is taller than your S2, so you would have to put the cooler out to the front of the car. Recore would be around £100 at a specialist but then you\'ll be as new.

A breaking list for March is attached.

The wing mirrors suggest you have a car made for the Japan market, called the Savanna over there?

Spraypainter ....hmmmm .....good....:wave ....Kilmarnock.....hmmm.....:3gears-lh

A BIG welcome to the forum - rex looks nice so 1st thing to do is name it!
Used to have a Savana myself in the 80\'s so would be interested to hear if perhaps this was an import too?

Like all previous responses, I too would recore but you are going to find it extremely difficult as you don\'t already have one available.
I\'d try RXMotors 1st, failing this I\'d find a scrapper fairly close to you and have a look at it, buy it cheap as poss and have it recored for safety and reliability breasons.

Cliff

Have a look in that breakers list attachment to my post Chris, but don\'t choose a Series 3 rad as they are taller than the S2.

Yeh, the Tower Close address was Des Sullivan (Club President then), round about the mid 1990\'s. All pre internet forums.....
Do you have an owners name from that time? For their privacy best not to post it up here, can you email me? dgnock at btopenworld dot com

Yeh, as Tim, 86 onwards is the next Generation up (2nd Gen).

You want a 1st Generation, Series 2 Rad. The S2 ran from about August 1981, on an \'X\' suffix to Feb 1984, on an \'A\' prefix.

Not a pest, wait till we\'re asking paint questions buddy.

Seen this on ebay for BIN £1,500. Not sure why he hasn\'t offered it on here seeing as people assisted him with parts and advice? Or maybe he just doesn\'t want us to see him trying to triple his money?? :2Rolleyes
