I have had a member call with the horn not working and needs to find out where the relay is.
Could anyone help please.
don\'t think they have a relay ... I\'ll check the haynes manual
well, according the (poor) diagrams in the haynes manual the early cars had no relay and the later one do. However it does not explain where the relay is located ! I know there is a fuse box under the dash on the drivers side so I would start the hunt there and work back towards the horns themselves which are located in the nose infront of the rad.

(gets coat.......)

The car is on an A reg, if that\'s any help ???
you can get a full wiring diag from //www.iluvmyrx7.com but it is a bl@@dy big file!
Just tried to cut and paste the relevant pages but it\'s a PDF so I couldn\'t
does it show the location of the relay ? the haynes just show the circuit as a diagram that bares no relation to how the loom looks in the car ... if I have time i will take a look at my car and see if I can find the relay
show the circuit diag, but 2nd page is an identifier to show where the relevant components can be found, haven\'t actually looked at in in relation to the car to see how good a representation it is though.
Come on fellas, someone must know :(
according to the US forum its buried somewhere under the dash near the steering wheel (bad diagram + of a LHD car !) It also suggests that the dash lights are on the same circuit so it might be worth checking that fuse first.
Theres only a fuse box in a 1st gen, the relays seem to be located all over the shop :(
Thanks Mike for looking around for me, cheers
after just pulling out a wiring loom the relays are just behind the fuses (pain to get to though i would take the fuse board off then there are 2 10m nuts holding the relay board up, however i had no dash in so i\'m not sure if you can get to them? if you cant open the door and remove the 2 screws on the dash then the stering coloum cover and you should be able to see the screws that hold he panel in with the electric mrror fuel and boot switch if you remove this it may help?
on a tangent how easy is it to change the horn to a more meaty sounding one (http://www.sable.co.uk/taxi/noddy_car.gif), is it just a case of swapping the actual erm horn behind the front bumper?
Cheers
Si
it certainly is ... as long as the new ones don\'t draw a load more current than the old ones it will just be a case of unplugging one set and connecting the new ones.
how would you find that out(http://www.computerpannen.com/cwm/contrib/edoom/microwave.gif)? Any tips for a good tooter which\'d be easy to come by at a scrappy or sumin.....
Cheers
Si
not too sure unless its written on the horn itself ... I wouldn\'t have thought you\'d have trouble with swapping to another standard horn off another car.
