Title: TII engine into an EGI info?
Post by: haywes on April 01, 2011, 04:51:43 PM
I\'ve had a quick search, couldn\'t find anything concrete, and it\'s come up in my head more times than I\'d like to mention: How much do you guys think it should cost to drop a TII engine into an EGI? I\'m after a rough complete figure, as if I am to keep my FC, it\'s something I may consider in the future!

Also, are there any huge problems that are typical in this kind of conversion? And any other information that would be useful? Trying to make a very difficult decision at the moment, car-wise!

Cheers guys :driving

It\'s not just engine - that will bolt in in the place of you\'re egi lump, but the loom will be wrong, chances are you\'ve got dizzy / coils so you\'ll need to get the igniter / coil pack units from a TII as well, plus TII ECU and instruments.

Then there\'s gearbox - that\'s different, and prop shaft and diff and half shafts - so basically most of the back end.  Plus exhaust system is likely to be restrictive for a turbo so that needs replacing too.

It\'s a lot of work !

Glad I asked now then - sounds like a ridiculous amount of work! I knew the engine itself would go in place with no problem, but it was the kind of things you mentioned that I was iffy about - so thanks for the info!

I done it last year and it is alot of work. I changed the whole interior as well mind you. Every bit wire had to be changed in the end. As Prof said all that stuff needs to be changed.

Buy a doner car, it will be far cheaper to swop things over.
