Title: Heat Warning Light ?
Post by: Wolverine69 on March 28, 2011, 08:14:59 PM
Hi all.
been a while since i posted anything about my 3rd gen type r because it has been running well since i emptied my wallet into it ha ha, just one quick thing, it is still running great does not lose any fluid oil & water the temps of Oil & Water on my aftermarket gauges read normal but whenever i put my toe down in 2nd gear now the heat icon flashes until i either change up or slow down, it seems weird to me as the car feels like it is running well.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and i look forward to meeting some of you at upcoming events lets all prey the weather is good this year.
Cheers

I think on the 3rd gens that usually flashes due to high knock, who mapped your car?

assuming that you have an Apexi PFC the heat light flashes to indicate one of two things:

1) three flashes in quick succession - as mentioned, knock warning. Depending upon who mapped her, this is probably just the result of a busted sensor. Mine used to be set off by dump valve, loud music, bumpy roads. I eventually got so angry i just turned it off!!

2) flashes at 0.5sec intervals - injector duty warning. You are maxing out your injectors. However, unless you ahve had some engine work done recently then this shouldn\'t just happen overnight.
