Anyone know much about these? Found a nice looking one in Cyprus, thinking it might be as fun as an fd but in a different way. There are loads of dirt tracks etc over in Cyprus! And a fair bit of amateur rallying, I\'m a bit nervous about the rats nest on the fd in a country I hardly know.
Which generation is it? They are all fun, bit like a mini Impreza :D the early ones seem to eat diffs and rot... Not sure about the later version.
The \'89 - \'95 one? 1.8 16v turbo 4x4, think the earlier ones were 1.6?
I had a silver 1992 323 GTR familia with the ihi roller bearing turbo, sodium filled valves and 5 stud big brakes...bla bla.
Notoriously bad gearboxes...HOWEVER...tools usually drive them and drive them hard with nasty launches and the like. From memory evo boxes can fit.
Wack a set of cams, 3" exhaust from turbo, boost controller, pod filter, intercooler....racing clutch (a must) and hold on. It will eat evo\'s all day and really comes alive at 3,000+ revs.
Economical as hell...great bang for your buck. From memory 2,500 were built worldwide with a further handful being the rally type GTAE circa 250??? or 750 were made? Can\'t remember.
My mate had one too and with the mods mentioned above did a recorded 12.6sec quarter mile. I glazed my clutch on the same day....get a good clutch.
Wicked car...some rotary converted ones in nz...pretty huckery in my opinion.
TOP bang for your buck.
Cheers
forgot to say if u want to check it\'s the real deal...look for 5 stud wheels. 4 stud are gtx...nowhere near as powerful or good. This WILL smoke almost most performance cars with the right mods.

The car i\'m looking at started life as a GT-X and has had the GT-R full engine set up (turbo etc) added with Wiseco forged pistons, Sard fuel regulator, front mount intercooler, greddy blow off valve and even the 5 stud GT-R wheels and drilled disc brakes, new clutch, HKS mushroom air filter. Its got 16" Avanti Rims on it (which i\'d personally change) Its been lowered too, but i\'m not sure of the full suspension set up.
And of course its been treated to a GT-R bodykit. Its an estimated 230+ bhp, i\'m currenty searching to find the Engine code for the GT-R lump so when i see it i can check myself that its genuine GT-R set up. Apparentley you can also tell from the colour of the injectors.
I\'ve always liked them, but i\'m warming to the idea over the FD simply due to reliability and ease of fixing if it breaks. And as mentioned in the otehr thread (my iPhone decided to post twice) there are plenty of amateur rallies near where i will be living and endless amounts of dirt tracks nearbye to mess about on without any attention from the police!
Had a few pics emailed by the guy let me know what you all think.

Obviously it lacks the GT-R bonnet!
I would def look into it further esp since it\'s a gtx conversion. Keep eyes peeled for a genuine one as it will hold its price.
Needs the bonnet...and 17\'s slammed. Enkei Tarmac Evo\'s with low profile tyres look good for that rally look. Plenty in NZ that have had the treatment.
Good luck fella
Yeah we\'ll see. I\'m still fighting myself about an FD.
Cheers again for positive comments.
Ben
I reckon get yourself a FD and NA bridge port it! Brap brap braaaaaap brap...Or an AE*^ with 13b or 12a na in it....loads of fun
