  • turn over the car on full throttle (pedal touching the floor) for 5 second bursts
  • do the above around 20 times (yes that many times)

Just one thing, as I don\'t know what Mazda you have.

The above step of foot to floor on the accelerator DOES NOT WORK on my 89 RX-7, my RX-7 has NO fuel cutoff switch and we found out that the foot-to-floor cranking method re-floods the engine.

i have a mazda rx7 fds 1994!

took out the egi fuse and turned it several times and it started up but then cut out with a big puff of white smoke!!!! ( Fuel Maybe)

then tried it with again with the foot to the floor but no joy so i recon that that didnt work!!!

gonna try the egi again later on!!! think thats the best way forward!!!

Sorry I assumed this was for a FD, not sure about other rx7\'s, thanks for the info.

It depends on how bad the flooding is really. You can just get away with just planting your foot and turning it over. hope it starts up soon, your other bet is too tow start it.

We spent a full afternoon trying to start my \'89 FC with the foot the the floor method and didn\'t realise til the next time we had a go at starting it that the Series4 FC doesn\'t always have a fuel cutoff switch when the accelerator is on the floor. Felt a right plank after having spent the previous afternoon constantly re-flooding my own engine without even realising :rollin

Best of luck with yours though! I think all the rotaries after 91/92 100% have fuel cutoff with foot to floor, though correct me if I\'m wrong.

Also if your not confident, just trake the EGI fuse out and crank the s**t out of it with the bottom two plugs removed so it can spit fuel out until you can hear it\'s only spitting out air, then put it all back together and try starting it without touching the accelerator.

Probably won\'t make a difference to an FD but that\'s what worked for me!

The TII FC\'s from 89 also had the fuel cut - seems it\'s only on the EGI models it isn\'t there.

If you\'ve fitted an eManage - you\'ll end up flooding it again - as WOT on cranking is for injector cleaning ! LOL

I AM THE HAPPIEST GUY ABOUT!!!!

MY REX SHE LIVES!!!! HAPPY DAYS.........ive never been so excited in my life!!! i ran about the street jumping for joy!!! was a bit shaky to start with but after the extra fuel got out the system she was running like never before!!! MINT!!!

a bit of smoke from the engine and then the radiator didnt kick in with steam coming from it too.....was a bit confused to begin with.....soon sorted that tho.......took some water out of it and in a blink o an eye it begun to cool my engine!!!!

Just thought id let all of ya guys know!!!!

o Took the EGI out yesterday and turned it over all afternoon then after a few hours this morning....put the fuse back in and sprung to life in about 2 turns!!!! had to give it some food to the floor revs tho!!!! but with in 10 mins she cleared and i was jumping like a dafty!!!!

Cheers guys!!!! im chufft to bits to have my baby up and running again!!!
