Title: Single turbo wiring simplifying....HELP!!
Post by: Goldie_7 on March 22, 2011, 01:52:14 PM
Hey guys! Someone please help!

Does anyone know anything about the simplifying of the wiring when it comes to single turbo setup? As in reducing the number of relays next to the turbo, etc. Struggling a bit with the wiring on my transplanting project. It appears mine has been simplified but this shell hasn\'t!

I\'ll post pics later today, any kind of help would be perfect but a simple break down of all the significant changes would be great!!

You can get rid of all the relays/solenoilds and associated clips. most of the plugs are attached to the same branch so it isnt exactly hard to find / clip em. All under the uim.

Aah i see so most of the relays don\'t even get used? I have a v-mount so there is only the relay for the cooling fans left. So if i were to trace those wires from the fan relay back, where would they go? I can post pics if needed. Thanks a lot so far!!

Are you saying that physically it won\'t fit due to the fan relays? Or that you want to see if you can simplify the wiring by removing the relays (i.e. so the fans stay on).

What Dr. Schnitzel is talking about is all the solenoids related to the twins set up and these are under the UIM.

I think what you\'re talking about is something different...

Btw sorry its not the engine loom i\'m talking about, its the bodys loom around the front including the lights, abs, fans, etc. On the offside of the bay where there are about 4 relays from stock. Sorry, i\'m a bit of a noob when it comes to wiring. I had hoped it would be a bit easier than this.
Had a bright idea of splitting the loon in the middle under the slam panel and transplanting the two halves over but when i found there are no multi-pin connectors, i have had to change my strategy and actually simplify the existing loom myself.
I\'ve been told its quite simple. Can someone re-assure me please?

My engine looms perfect btw, just a straight swap over!

I think you might need to explain a little more of what you are trying to do. Is this related to another thread?

Are you transplanting a single turbo engine from one RX7 to another?

Generally when doing a single turbo you don\'t need to mess with any of the wiring, save for the solenoids that Dr Schniztel was talking about.

Yeah sorry i think i\'ve posted this in the wrong area, it was in a slight moment of desperation. But yes i am transplanting my practically brand new gt35r engine into another shell. I have the loom still attached to the engine so its fine but i just wondered about the fact i now have 1 relay on the offside since the engine rebuild, etc, as oppose to the 4 relays on this shell.

This is the shell.

and this....

is my \'donor\' shell.

So what are/were all the extra relays for? Probably been asked hundreds of times!

Are you talking about the ones in the front realy box? If so, did one car have Bose, and the other didn\'t by any chance?

They\'re all labelled on the relay box cover, but I binned mine when I binned the relay box.

I think he means the fan relays on the drivers side inner wing.

Now, just having a few tiny wiring problems....can anyone tell me where this wire connection goes? The wire is black + red. Quite short so can\'t go far. Double checked and it is on both looms (donor and new) but I just can\'t remember where it goes!

And this one I believe goes to that bit on the side of the sump as I think I ripped it out while removing everything else! It is blue + red. If thats where it does go, can anyone explain what that connection to the sump is for?

Thanks!

Can\'t really see as the photos are tiny, but if the second one goes to the sump it\'s the oil level sensor.

And there\'s no point bumping a post if the forum\'s barely moved dude!
