Title: Good synthetic oil
Post by: wiggman2030 on March 20, 2011, 07:37:16 PM
I\'m now approaching my second oil change after my rebuild, currently I am using MOBIL 1 - 0W40 New Life Fully Synthetic Engine Oil. I don\'t really want to start a war about mineral and synthetics, so I\'m simply going to ask if the oil I\'m using is good for a synthetic? If not is there something else that someone can recommend (also synthetic lol).

Cheers

Mazda says "Mineral Only" in ANY Rotary and they issued a prohibition notice and asked me to post it here on MRC and the RX8OC to tell the would NOT to use non Mineral in ANY Rotary so I am at a loss as to why these debates continue after all Mazda have made a few Rotarys over the years and surely they have every right to demand what is the best type of oil they want used in the engines they designed.

Where it gets confusing is that Semi Synthetic can also be used, but then this is only a refined mineral oil, fully synthetic is something completely different and this is what the Mazda prohibition was aimed at.

Hope this helps

Check with Opie oils :) or just buy a premix adaptor which will allow you to run synthetic and not start a war on mineral vs synthetic :D

Ok, well here\'s a different question. Is it safe to change back to mineral oil after running synthetic? Also is 0w 40 good enough protection or do i need something thicker? :)
