Title: Replacement Door Locks?
Post by: Lacey on March 12, 2011, 10:45:02 PM
How much are they and where can you order them from?

I\'m interested on replacing the locks on both the driver and passenger door (and possibly the ignition one as well if I\'m feeling brave) as I only got one key when I bought the car, and I want peace of mind nobody else has the other.

Mainly I\'m looking for replacement new door locks, and possibly a package of 2 door locks and an ignition?

Thanks. :)

If you have a key and there\'s nothing wrong with the locks you can get your key cut at any good key cutting place.

Muahahaha!!!! XD Thanks either way :)

Mainly I\'m more interested in the door locks, as I know replacing the ignition barrel is a **** of a job to do and undertake, but if I can get a set of the 3 locks (so I don\'t have 2 different keys) I\'m likely going to opt for it.

I Changed the ignition a while back and tbh it was quite simple as the cylinder comes apart from electrical part of the ignition. The doors are probably more of a pain as you have to dismantle the doors and get to the locks.

Thing is if someone wanted to break in to the car it would only be to joy ride it as they are not worth much money to sell. The locks are not that difficult to break into, and the ignition is not much of a challenge either.

If you really want to stop someone breaking in better to get a good quality alarm with an immobiliser. Then you dont even have to use the key when you lock/unlock the car. Then if someone has a key they can only open the door but wont be able to drive away (plus the siren will be blasting 100-120 decibels in there ear :yes)

Sorry bout the essay:Snoring

Thanks for the input but I\'d rather do both. I don\'t want people being able to get into the car especially the amount of time I\'m going to be putting into restoring everything to the original colour. I\'m going to be adding a decent alarm system to it as well, but I want to change the locks on both the doors and the ignition barrel for my own peace of mind and so that I KNOW only I have the key for it, regardless of whether the locks are easy to break into or not. But thanks anyway. :)
