I got my rex back from wgt after fitting a power fc to stop overboost a few months ago! she made 292 bhp car doesnt have that much done to it. its got a stock downpipe and then a straight through cat to a blitz nurspec, a hks induction kit, hks bov, hard wired the fuel pump, bigger stock mount intercooler. does anyone have any idea what i could do next to get a bit more power?;) I dont have a boost controller, but dont know if its safe to go messing with the boost as pip at wgt solved that problem of overboost lol. So any advice on getting a litttle more bhp would be much apprciated :Thumbs-up
What radiator and HT leads do you have? And what fueling?
Same as I made mate. If Pip stopped there I would bet money you ran out of fuel - which means you\'ll need more fuel pressure (so an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator). Next stages of fuel mods are (in order of cost and power potential) injectors cleaned and flowed > 850 primaries (rail needs modified). Get a 3" downpipe and sort the fuel you\'ll probably be able to be mapped for 330 or so.
Your best bet is to spk wid Pip (Wgt).. He is da man to answer this question.. More bhp means more money... :)

Its stock radiator and ht leads at the moment.

Hmmm yea could be. it got new injectors put in so they sould be good! because i thought it was a fuel problem that was causing it to splutter under boost but it turned out it was just overboost! i have a hks downpipe but not sure if its safe to put on incase i get boost creep again. looking for safe easy mod that doesnt require a remap just yet. Im will put it back to pip but not planing to for a while yet. If i go for a aftermarket fuel pressure regulater will it require a remap?
I would seriously suggest you look at getting a different radiator before going for more power, and indeed better HT leads if you are running higher boost to help stop spark breakup
More power will mean a remap mate, if you change fueling, breathing or boost then its unlikely your existing map will cater for it.
At least it has upgraded fueling to cope with a bit more power, engines usually fail due to ancillaries like cooling or fueling
Stock leads are fine at that level of power, and more, if they\'re in good nick.
Was that 292 at the wheels or fly? If wheels it seems pretty good for that spec tbh.
Was it you who had it mapped on 95? If so that\'s what the issue is right there.

Its at the fly, yea it was me that got it done on 95, because where i live its all i can get. but i said to pip if it would make much difference that i would be happy to mix the 95 with some sort of octane booster, but he said it wont make much difference?
Octane booster that you buy is pretty much bobbins tbh.
You\'d need to run proper higher octane fuel - I\'d imagine that\'s where your power\'s gone - I\'d guess it\'d be easily worth the 40bhp or so you are down on similar spec cars if you could run more boost because of the higher octane
So is there not much i can do running on that crap? lol.
I dont believe you need a larger radiator, as long as standard one is in good condition they were very well, and being part plastic suffer less from heat soak...so save the money for a good Intercooler!
I think since its going to need a remap whatever i do, im going to wait till next year and do a bit of work before i take it down to Pip as this year im spending enough on it with new alloys/ coilovers. Its a long way for me to go to get down to wgt so when i do go i want to be going for something major, so best plan i think is to wait and think what i could do before i put her down there for a remap again, like get my downpipe on/ bigger radiator etc. mabie even get it ported and go for uprated twins or single?:Thumbs-up either way its guna cost a fortune!!! lol
I have the same mods as you except a h k s downpipe and got 326fwHP @ 0.9bar and was limited by fuelling. 850s and an f p r and 350@1bar should be a fair estimate.
350 sequential and that\'s about it for twins
Performance engine = performance fuel

could i not get it maped next time for 95ron mixed with octane booster? is there not any kind of octane booster out there that would be any good?
At best you are talking about a couple of percent extra HP... waste of money and effort for no noticeable difference
Not much point in that then. Only other option is to get a 2 hour boat trip and a drive to fill loads of jerry cans! lol. So realy if i want more power i need the right fuel. I hate living in Orkney! lol
Get yourself some monoethylanaline, they used this in aeroplane engine in ww2 to up the Octane level of the fuel. It takes the octane of standard fuel up to around 150 octane. I think it goes in at between 6-10% turn the boost up to 4 bar and you will have loads of power. Any other fuel additive is just plain kids stuff. Lol. Hope this helps.

Hmmm mite need to look into this, i take it that it wont be easy to get hold of this stuff?
Getting it wouldn\'t be too hard and I don\'t think it\'s that expensive, just need someone with serious balls to drive the car with it in! Lmao
I wouldnt want to be the first to try it lol. I would want to see if it works first!
