Title: Cooling
Post by: mr_tim on June 07, 2004, 11:10:58 PM
Now summer is on it\'s way I\'m thinking about getting my temps down a bit. My water is around 85/90 degrees and air around 45.

I\'m thinking of an alu rad - any recommendations? I an electric water pump OTT. What sort of price would this be?

Is an intercooler my best bet for lowering air temps? I guess i\'d have to back that up with the fuel system.

I guess a vented hood could help as well.

Hi Tim,

water temp sounds good. I can lower it on the datalogit if you wanna pop down some time. Vented bonnet helps a little with under hood temps but only a little. Alu radiator depends what one some aftermarket radiators cost a lot but provide no benefit over the stock one. electric water pump don\'t know but certainly is gonna be better than stock but I think it makes the engine bay look messy. Front mount intercooler drops the air temop significantly. on the motorway my white one is around 26-27 on a hot day around town low 30\'s in stop start traffic high 30\'s extreme traffic not moving 40\'s.Yes you will need to upgrade fueling with a front mount.

Also try water wetter - ths has worked for me on the past when I was track daying my MX-5 - it made a noticeable differerence.
