Title: ..gremlins!
Post by: leggysrx7 on June 07, 2004, 10:49:55 PM
Good evening all

..just returned from a little bit of cruisin\'.....noticed a strange fault..only noticed when it started to get a little darker...when i press the brake pedal the dashboard lights up....tried again lights up.., so i clicked the lights on....and it brights up when i brake..strange....then it stopped and all was fine!!!

..i recently replaced the rear side light bulbs......surely this wouldn\'t have effected it????Alternator replaced two weeks ago....leads,plugs,fuel filter all replaced...

...please don\'t post something crazy like \'it sounds like it needs a rebuild\'!!!!!I\'ve had enuff heart failure to chock a horse...between idling problems(all sorted) and puddles( largely due to the fact it rains!!)..didn\'t say in the buyers handbook that i\'d become paranoid!!!!

Please someone help me....

cheers!

Marc

Sorry Marc,

I\'m not gonna be much help on this thread i\'m afraid.
This sounds like an odd fault to say the least.
You do have just to the right of the stereo a adjuster for the dash light. You may well have a bad connection on the back of this. Or maybe it\\s just faulty you could try removeing the wire from the back and hit the brakes to see if the problem is still there or not.

...it is odd ain\'t it.....hoping it is a simple fault, strange though how it just started then stopped.....bloody gremlins!!!!!

..i\'m out for most of the day drivin\' so i\'ll keep my eye on it. Too be honest i\'ve no idea if there is a dimmer switch on the dashboard :-((( ..can\'t say i\'ve noticed!!!

I Had a similar fault in a ford.  The brake light/rear light had been damaged so that the filaments touched each other. If I used the brake pedal all the lights came on. And If I turned the ignition off with my foot on the brake pedal, the engine wouldnt stop.
