Title: fuel cutting
Post by: rust on March 03, 2011, 11:58:53 PM
Hello to all.

i bought home the FD today and it was all good, it was sat at my friends garage for about a few weeks. the petrol tank was empty and so i went to fill it up with V Power today and drove it home and push it a little, but for some reason it felt like that it was fuel cutting, the first turbo spools up fine but near to the 2nd turbo it cuts. a friend of mine knows a fair bit of the Rotary and so took it out for a spin and he had the same problem, but when he stopped at the round about he said the car stalled and took him twice to restart it back up.  i have spooled the 2nd turbo before and it has had the limiter sound beeping at me. iv had the Speed changed from KM to MPH but not changed the KM Miles to MPH Miles yet. can it be anything to do with that ? my friends seems to think it might be the fuel pump dirty or on its way out. but i aint sure my self.. the car has had fresh oil, fresh new plugs and a little servise.

im thinking it might be the petrol from the empty tank ( all the crap in side it ) and i filled up some petrol and its got in to the pump?? or fuel filter needs to be changed?

any help would be brilliant

this only happens some times so on and off.

my first day with the car and problem already.. help.

Either way changing the fuel filters is good call, too many people don\'t bother and it\'s very important on turbo rotaries.

Rust ( tell us your real name ) it\'s starting to seem weird typing that when addressing you?! ;P

Well worth doing the filter..... I presume you\'re on a standard setup / ECU ?
No Apexi PFC / Commander?

hehe, enjoy fitting that one. It\'s a legendary ball-ache!!! ;)

Pipes popping off are a common problem, always worth going in heavy handed with the zip-ties and doing them all up properly in one go.

cool cool buddy! Well the first thing you wanna be looking at, if your gonna upgrade bits... is an Apexi PFC / Commander! ( they come up every now and then and I do believe Laeeq has just put one up for sale - good value! )

I notice yours is on an N plate but got the older front bar ??!! ( 92ish )
have you got the round rear tail lights/ brakelights?

my rear lights are the late spec lights. the owner before changed them i think.. one of the reason i went for this FD as it had a few nice bits and looked clean. i will post up more photos with my SLR camera later today .
