Title: A few tips etc
Post by: nc30pete on March 02, 2011, 10:56:32 AM
Right first of all hello to all :-)

Before I get ridiculed for having a rotary engine from the rx I must add that the engine was out of a smashed up rx so it\'s not that sacrilegious :-)

Basically I have a Suzuki cappuccino with a 3rd gen engine converted to single turbo , I bought it from a member back on my Suzuki forum , it was a 90%finished project , the car doesn\'t run quite right, it seems to misfire .

I\'m going to trawl through lots of prior posts to get an insight into these car engines but I just thought if there were any quick pointers or common issues I could look at before hand :-)

Any input greatly appreciated and hope I\'ve not made too many people turn in their grave for such a hybrid .... :-/

OH MY GOD!!! A single turbo rotary in a cappachino must be AWESOME! :)

There\'s a Cappachino for sale in a garage near me...hmmmm...

To be honest, people who think of inventive re-homing for rotaries aren\'t burnt at the stake. Putting a piston engine into an RX is asking for a lynching though ;)

hey all , i thought i better go put my intelligent charger on the battery on the little car, had a quick look at it, it runs a std ecu, i didnt realise you could convert to a single turbo and run stock computer... anyway i was just thinking , read on some threads that you can get the injector plugs mixed up and put onto the wrong injectors?
I\'ll post up some engine bay pics soon but i didnt have a light yesterday which hindered taking any good pics on my phone. :-/

If its a 3rd gen (FD) then you can\'t run a single tubby with the factory ECU.  It could be a second gen perhaps?  Or your running problems are because it is a 3rd gen and the ECU doesn\'t have a clue whats going on...

Was it for sale on eBay a while back? I saw a totally custom white Cappuccino Spyder with no windscreen or roof or anything that had a 13b lump in it.

I was going to do a 13b Cappuccino at one point, then found the described above one on ebay and lost heart, since I was hoping it hadn\'t been done before. :/

yes its the white one, he was on my cappuccino forum and i watched his 13 page plus build diary of it take place. He has done loads to it, fr n rear subframes been blasted, galvanised and painted, all suspension blasted and powder coated with new bushes , brand new coil over suspension kit, new grooved n drilled discs and pads, plus loads more. Quick q to all, how do you attach pics from my hard drive? looked on ur faq bit and it says look at bottom of page for attaching pics but all im finding is insert pic and only getting a url option :-/

that red 3rd gen pic is lovely, they look so nice unfettled / no bodykit etc , the roofline oozes styling lines of a single seater le mans car . Just a set of wheels and they look utterly gorgeous ;-)

if you think my one is a mental project you wanna see the other chap on my suzy forum, he has gone the whole nine yards and made it a porsche beater, it beats a porsche ( think a gt3 ) off the line ! he made totally new front and rear suspension, widened it by about 4 inches each side ( no exagerration! ) so it sits on think 8 or 10 inch mag spun rims , custom rear diff ( think its mtx 2000 diff with interchangeable ratios which he can do via in the boot :-) , suzuki gsxr1000 engine in it too, diffuser system running underneath, just the sort of bloke who us mere mortals get extremely jealous over his skills at cnc milling , race tech knowledge and general race car building...

Upload it to imageshack or photobucket etc and use the URL

And FYI for anybody who hasn\'t seen it this car is a BEAST!!!! Not a fan of the Spyderised no-windscreen but each to their own :)

Either way it\'s an amazing piece of kit, saw it on ebay months back possibly around october time? Slightly before? Stunning in every respect, seriously.

thats my rice rocket :-) its been on ebay few times but no one was brave enough to buy at his starting prices with the running issues, but he then bought his new house and needed that gone quick , i won it for 2k :-) few hrs after auction ended some german bloke said he missed auction and said he would buy for 3k - too late sucker!! lol

it looks like my std ecu is to blame for the poor running, what gets me atm is that why would he go to rewiring it all and not look into if its possible to run a single turbo with std ecu ???

Knew exactly what car you were on about from the get go, wanted to bit myself but I\'m notoriously broke for one reason or another, plus I don\'t have dry storage to warrant buying a topless car unfortunately! Congrats on the purchase! If you don\'t bring it to the shows I\'ll kill you myself ^_^

all you need to do is buy a shed , they are so ludicrously small they fit in them ;-) like i said i got a very good friend who likes his toys too , last year he had an m3csl and a 300bhp westy, m3 sat in his double garage and the westy in his new shed he had made for the westy, which now is where my machine resides ;-) his westy round goodwood was a hoon to drive but i still wish he used the m3 on there too as i think it would of been better in some ways, photobucket isnt working for some reason, did when i posted up pics of my rebuilt motorbike on the bike forum i use, im a tad confused....

What an awesome wee piece of kit!! That must go like the proverbial sheet of a shovel!!

Also, did anyone else notice the irony of entitling a technical thread about rotaries as "A few tips..." :)

oh, don\'t worry about reposting, just ask a nice Mr Mod to shift the thread for ya! ;)

I thought about the ironic statement about tips , but only way after I posted the thread lol

Reason I put it in here originally was because of what series the engine came from, iv already started a new thread in tech section . Cheers so far peoples !
