as above was wondering how good the fitment is?

Ive got to make a bumper fit ive just bought which looks quite similar to what you started with. A run through of exactly what you did in modifying it would be be great. Is that builders foam you\'ve used at one point there??
to fit it, I had to cut the upper part of original bumper to replace top part of aftermarket one. I take in reference position/turning lights assembly for measure.
I\'ve fixed the 2 parts with rivets.
Then, yes, I use construction foam to fill the gap between the 2 part, "shave" it with a cutter to make bumper curvature, then make a layer of fiberglass and resin. Resin will also go in the remaining foam, and strench everything up... :D
Then you have only to make it smooth!!!! (the longest part...)

Shocking by reading through this thread then :Nono!
its bloody disgusting how these companys get away with it,
ibk bodykits are almost the same,i\'ve got a vanquish style front bumper on the old track car the fit around the headlights and wings was borderline just about acceptable, but the turn/sidelights would not no-where near fit in!

Looks a good result anyway:Thumbsup!
Unfortunatly i dont have an origional bumper to cut up and use
^^^^^ yeah but you can get a standard 92 or later bumper for buttons! have a look on the bay or contact Dragon Performance ;)
Kriss has done a good job, but im a bit skeptical, that this will last long, with the two materials (plastic and f/glass) they will naturally want to move differently in the sun/cold etc so will crack on the join plus give it a knock and the join will break again i would say its a bad idea and wait for an original second hand bumper or buy new original(yes i do know they are expensive, save up it\'ll be worth it!)
my 2pence worth

The meaning of use construction foam is to solve this: the primary source of solidity are the numerous rivets, but the secret is the foam!!! As you "shave" it, you reveal the inside bubbled structure, that will be filled with resin, welding the two parts togheter in a very solid way.
I can assure you we have cars, done in this way, that are going on from years without a crack...
Many people uses less rivets and only fiberglass+resin, without foam, and the experience cracks caused by vibration and bumps.
Plus, the original bumper is not cheap plastic, but is made from a material similar to resin, so hot/cold is not a problem.
You have to be very carefull, though, whe you paint it, and use a very good primer...
Glad to be proven wrong then :-)
And, very important... you have to put fiberglass in the inside too.... and use special fiberglass rivets, the ones that opens in 4 parts like a "flower"... :D

Right, got hold of a standard bumper to chop down and fit. Where did you get these rivits from and do they have a special name. I can only find normal pop rivits when i do a search, but i do know the type you mean as ive seen them on some things previously.
Did you countersink into the bumper at all for the rivit to avoid it sitting proud or did you just build up the fibreglass over it and reshape??
In terms of measurements how exactly have you taken them as obviously the bumpers are different shapes.
And finally did the aftermarket one flex quite easilly to the shape of the origional one once the top section is cut away.
Cheers
Ignore the bit about type of rivit. They\'re called peel rivits i managed to find last night
Wouldn\'t it be easier just to buy a decent fitting bumper? Maybe a lightly damaged good quality item would take far less effort to sort out? I\'ve bought quite a few replica bumpers over the last few years and some i\'ve just binned as it looked like i\'d made them myself in the dark :Viking
Dave.
Probably yes, but i\'m going to have a go just to see if i can make a decent job of it!!!

You\'re right, but the only one with perfect fitting is the original FEED one, actually selled ad more than 1.000â,¬!!!! I can\'t spend such money for a bumper, I have the skill or skilled friends to fit this kind of bumper... So I prefere this way... :D

I agree with you 100% as you\'ve done a great job :Thumbs-up I myself am useless at fabricating parts if i\'m honest :D
